Source: US Government Believes Pakistan Compound was Built Specifically for Bin Laden
ABC News ^ | May 03, 2011 | Jake Tapper

Sources tell ABC News that administration officials believe Osama bin Laden had been living at the Abbottabad, Pakistan compound for years, with one senior administration source even suggesting the compound was specifically built in 2005 for the al Qaeda leader.

That this compound was constructed in the neighborhood of former Pakistani military officials and a local military academy is of course calling into question the participation of the local – if not national – government.

“It’s inconceivable that bin Laden did not have a support system in the country that allowed him to remain there for an extended period of time,” said White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan on Monday.

As always, there is a line that the US government walks when it comes to its alliance with Pakistan’s government. The Pakistanis seldom are as cooperative as the US wants them to be, and yet the US cannot afford to alienate the country’s leadership.

It seams to me that it was built specifically for Seal Team Six. They didn’t have a problem getting around.

Screw Pakistan! Declare it a terrorist nation and let them know we'll drop in as needed.

They seem to be successful in many other locations not "specifically built for them".

Yes, I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the authenticated diaries of Osama bin Laden to be published.

I don’t think he got a good deal on the compound.

Looked like crap. Of course, everything is relative, and in real estate, the three most important factors are location, location, and location.

I think we will learn that he was not only being “allowed” to stay there but was being “required” to do so. In return for keeping him safe, housed, and protected, the sneaky Paki bastards were holding him as a bargaining chip, IMHO. Hopefully we will see....

If Osama was kept there by elements of the Pakistani military, which seems absolutely undeniable at this point, he didn't pay for it. US taxpayers did.

We've given over $18 billion to the Pakistani military since 9/11. And they've used it to house Osama in style.

Yes. Let them get their OWN Chinese loans!

We can even couch in in ‘diplomatic’ terms by telling them we’re ‘helping them out’ by cutting out the middle-man and connecting them directly with our wholesaler.

Shrug. Americans are gullible. People still think Osama had some mythical compound in the mountains.

“And just ‘who’ designed and built that compound ?”

Yeah, it is very suspicious with the extremely high walls, barbed wire, etc. Sure, there were lots of ex-military officials residing in the area, but presumably the Pakis would know if officials were living in a compound like that- especially one so close to training grounds and the like.

Celine Dion recently bought Osama’s old Mountain Fortress. It’s been on the market for years since Seigfried and Roy’s deal fell through. She painted the interior completely white and has fresh flowers brought in daily.

When a nation allows an enemy to survive, and even funds that enemies survival... It is a demonstration of sheer power to those who understand what is going on... Both sides note this reality. Most miss the point.

It is a Roman thing.

My statement was meant to imply that all structures/environments are ideal places for Seal Team Six.

I suspect the same. They want US funding in perpetuity and eliminating terror would eliminate funding.

On sat images that compound sticks out like a sore thumb. Very distinct from the surrounding homes. Also a very strange shaped plot of land. And reports are he lived there for 5 years. Built around 2005 or 2006.

Yeah, and the city I live in has underground tunnels that go from a certain neighborhood to downtown and to one particular office building.

These are, of course, mythical tunnels and don't exist. No one has ever done a report on them or taken pictures from inside.

There is no proof they exist. At all. Aren't there, never have been. And I'm sticking with that story.
