President Obama is increasingly doubtful that there's a compelling reason to release a photograph of Osama bin Laden's corpse, ABC News has learned.
There don't seem to be many skeptics of bin Laden's death in the Muslim world, with bin Laden's wife having survived the attack to identify bin Laden's death both to the Navy SEALs and Pakistani authorities.
Meanwhile, sources say, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are advising the president about concerns at the Pentagon and State Department that releasing a photograph could prompt a backlash against the US for killing bin Laden where one does not seem to currently exist.
The internal debate at the White House is then informed by this question: why are we releasing this photograph if no one seems to really doubt his death and releasing it could cause more harm than good?
Post it along with the photos of Danny Pearl & all those they beheaded & gleefully displayed for all the world to see. Then get the clusters ready for Mecca & Medina.
The Democrats, and some Conservatives, had this theory that killing them and turning them into martyrs simply fired up recruiting.
The cold, hard facts are that you eventually run out of true believers when you make a concerted effort at killing them. Even the German Army surrendered at the field unit level ~ having run out of anybody who cared.
It's the same with AlQaida and its affiliates ~ they are vulnerable TO DEATH!
Abu Ghrab photos. Gitmo photos. Outing CIA operatives photos.

I guess there is no problem seeing US Servicemen dragged in the dust “a-la-Somalia” or US Contractors burned and hung from bridges “a=la-Iraq”, but it is too disturbing to show a shot up terrorist to the world.
It should have and still should be posted to show “This is what happens when you challenge America!”

Makes me believe the photo of Hill, Barry, Biden et al was a put together after the fact, and explains the odd seating, and shocked looks.

If Obama is worried that no good can come from releasing the photo, then wait a week and see the stories people will invent in the face of not releasing a photo.

Another day and even if he does release it, everyone will proclaim that it was photoshopped.

Thus, the Obama Admin should release it/them so that they will be able to control the narrative. Otherwise, some source similar to Wikileaks will eventually obtain and release the photo(s) and create a crisis such as the recently released ambassadorial communications.

According to the Christian Science Monitor and other sources, the rebels are being supplemented by foreign al-Qaeda coming from American-unfriendly regions who are becoming fighters against Kadafi.
If Barry releases the photo of the dead UBL, he may be "dissing" the very people he (and Graham and McCain) wants to help, arm, and support in the fight against Kadafi.
