Washington (CNN) A majority of Americans say they would never support Sarah Palin or Donald Trump for president, according to a new national poll.
A Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday indicates that 58 percent of the public says they would never vote for the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, with an equal amount saying the same thing about the billionaire businessman, real estate mogul, and reality TV star.
Fifteen percent of people questioned say they are enthusiastic about Palin as a candidate and around one in four say they would consider voting for her for president. According to the poll, nine percent say they are enthusiastic about Trump as a candidate, with about a quarter saying they would consider voting for him for president.
Palin has not made any major moves towards running for the GOP presidential nomination, but says she's not ruling anything out. Trump says he'll announce by June whether he'll run for the White House.
At the opposite end of the poll are two Republicans who ran for their party's nomination in the last presidential election: Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee.
Fifty-three percent say they are enthusiastic or would consider voting for Romney, with just over one in four saying they would never support the former Massachusetts governor for president. Romney has formed a presidential exploratory committee and is expected to formally declare his candidacy later this year.
According to the survey, 47 percent say they are enthusiastic or would consider voting for Huckabee, with 32 percent saying they would never vote for the former Arkansas governor for the White House. Huckabee has not, to date, made many public moves towards launching a campaign, but his advisers push back anytime it's suggested that he won't run for president.

The MEDIA is picking our canidate again...
My Mistake, it was a Quinnipiac Survey Poll.
Apologize for it.
LOL!!! MSM trying to pick our nominee.
FR poll: most think CNN is a communist network.
Thank you CNN for naming the candidates Obama fears.
A CNN poll huh? Somehow I don’t think that counts for much.
Why not?....they voted for Obama?
It does not matter.
More will vote for Palin than would vote for Obama.
CNN said it so it must be true.
I guess that leaves Romney, Gingrich and Huckabee.
Isn’t it great that CNN is here to help us pick a strong candidate?
And they’d all vote for Romney or Huckster.
They’ll vote for Trump once he forces Obama to release the photos!
Where will the rest of the vote go if the majority would not vote for Palin or Obama?
Have either stated their running?
No, way, no how.
We should do the exact opposite of what the PushNews PropagandaPolls tell us to do.
ALL of them....even the “respected” ones.
let me guess participation results Dems 75% Rep 5% Ind 20 %
I said I’d never vote for McCain, but I did....
The media also is once again trying to discredit Palin by lumping her in with Trump.
Kinda like “Majority say they won’t vote for Hitler, Stalin, John Wayne Gacy or Palin for President”
It’s a Quinnipiac poll on a CNN report.
Nothing new, just another flaming liberal alert trying to convince conservatives not to vote for either one!!
(Which, as we all know, means that they BOTH scare the who-gollies out of liberals!!)
Consider the source.
Enthusiastic Would consider voting Would never vote Huckabee 13% 34% 32% Romney 15% 38% 26% Palin 15% 24% 58% Trump 9% 26% 58% Newt Gingrich 9% 29% 42% Ron Paul 10% 25% 27% Michelle Bachman 6% 21% 29%
| Two Minnesotans, former Gov. Tim Pawlenty and U.S. Rep. Michelle Bachman, get 4 percent each.
| "This measurement is deceptive, because some who rank high have little upside due to their high negative," said Brown. "Many of the relative unknowns could have large upsides if they can get out their messages, since they will not have to erase a bad first impression. It is always easier to make a good first impression than to change an existing negative one.
The majority of the undecided will swing to Palin.
I would sure hate to be a democrat running against Sarah Palin.
I think that is what this liberal poll is saying.
The group think comments on CNN are hysterical.
Me too, actually I voted for Palin, but, in reality, it was a vote for MeCain. And I have regregreted it ever since.
Those polled were not characterized by CNN, which means they weren’t “likely voters,” the crucial criteria. If they had been, CNN would have been sure to mention it because it enhances the value of the report.
That said, temperamental, fickle, lightweight Sarah Palin, who unceremoniously abandoned her office in little Alaska because the heat in the kitchen got too hot, is not suited for the Oval Office, where the flames are several orders of magnitude more intense. Even though the CNN poll may not be fully reliable, we can be sure the American people, to their credit, have sussed that much out.
According to the survey page:
From April 26 - May 1, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,408 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.6 percentage points. Live interviewers call land lines and cell phones.
The Quinnipiac University Poll, directed by Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., conducts public opinion surveys in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Ohio and the nation as a public service and for research.
Unless that "negative impression" is the deliberate fabrication of a hostile press. Illusions are fragile things, and can be dispelled quite easily with truth. Palin can and will shine through the lies when the campaign starts in earnest.
MY Poll: Majority say they wouldn’t watch CNN if it was the last station on air
Ratings would tank even more if airports, gyms, etc. weren’t forced to air it by a bunch of lunatic liberals who want to imposse their views on the rest of the world.
Try getting CNN turned off at the gym. A bunch of damn cry babies.
Memes like that have a diminishing market. Nice try though.
98% of people never watch cnn.
CNN lies, Big time !
Someone please post the pegged BS meter!
My Poll: CNN voted second most likely network to make me want to throw my shoe at the TV. (MSNBC of course coming in first)
Until a campaign is run by real and declared candidates very close (a week, maybe a month) to a real election they mean nothing.
The early polls in 2007 thought that Rudy would be battling Hillary in a close race. The early polls in 1979 said that Reagan could never be president. The early polls in 1991 said that GHW Bush could never be beaten.
do they think they are being subtle linking Palin to the celebutard?
and they want Rommney
Take the poll again when gas is $6.50 a gallon.
Is there a federal program I can apply for, since, I am clearly in a minority.
I suppose the irony, here, is, whoever, I would vote for, would abolish such a program.
It is the Lame stream media. Lying again.
True enough, but I would add that while the Palin vote consists of legal American citizens, obama’s votes are much more varied. His is heavily weighted to include the dead vote, the illegal vote, the thrice vote, and the out-of-state vote.
