DETROIT – According to a new report, 47 percent of Detroiters are ”functionally illiterate.” The alarming new statistics were released by the Detroit Regional Workforce Fund on Wednesday. WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with the Fund’s Director, Karen Tyler-Ruiz, who explained exactly what this means. “Not able to fill out basic forms, for getting a job — those types of basic everyday (things). Reading a prescription; what’s on the bottle, how many you should take… just your basic everyday tasks,” she said. “I don’t really know how they get by, but they do.

Why would anyone think it is alarming for Detroit? Unless they are a Lib!
Another Democratic stronghold to be held up as a fine example of a modern American city.
Sure they can - it just isn’t English.

And people were shocked, just shocked, earlier this year, when the census numbers showed a huge decline in the population of Detroit. I think all of the decent people with an ounce of common sense have moved out of Detroit.
What did they pay for that library?
And guess who they’ll vote for in 2012.
And they wonder why industry wants to leave.
We’re in a fix, folks. There just aren’t enough ditch digging jobs to go around for the mexicans AND the uneducated.
Yet Detroit has some of the highest paid teachers in the country.
Now who lives in the Detroit metropolitan area, and if one were to draw a venn diagram, how much of a demographic overlap might there be?

I'm going to have to challenge the term 'functionally'. Not sure that the ability to use a state-issued EBT card is considered 'functional'.

The detroiters have probably been schooled in the democrats public schools which are completely worthless.
The natural consequence of a permanent welfare underclass, which breeds more gangbangers than scholars, and massive immigration from 3rd world countries. And Bloomberg’s solution is to fill up Detroit with more of the smae. Evict the 700,000 current residents and replace them with 700,000 Chinese/Korean/Japanese and you might turn that city around. Add another 100,000 muslims and all you’ll get is another Gaza Strip.
They need a special “stimulus package” for the Dept. of Education!!
It's for the CHILDREN!!!!!
If they read they could learn it’s unwise to vote democrat.
They need to double the amount of money being spent for schools.
Then, only 25% of Detroiters would be able to read.
But they can vote! “Where did Obama get the money you’re here for?” “I don’t know, his stash, Obama’s stash!”
