Doughty- I think your assumptions and challenge are “bass ackwards”! The Abu Ghraib photos were humiliating to the Arab psyche and generated lots of anger, but photographic evidence of OBL’s demise by a handful of infidels easily invading an impregnable hideout would be demoralizing to his followers. I think that would result in fewer casualties to us, not more... Think about it.

While I don’t think that’s totally without merit as an argument, I am still stuck with the fact that right now we’re seeing very little anger on the street across the Middle-East.
Isn’t that a good thing? Why press our luck by pushing the matter more, with shocking photos? What is better than no violence, the status now?
The violence can’t go down if there isn’t any. It can go up, way up.
