The intelligence community has obtained "positive intelligence" from the materials taken from Osama bin Laden's compound which is helping narrow down the locations of core al Qaeda leadership including the whereabouts of Ayman al Zawahiri, al Qaeda's former No. 2 man and a candidate to succeed bin Laden.

Why is this intel being leaked?
It does make you wonder, why this is leaked — I guess to make sure that Al Zawahiri and his fellow terrorists can escape before we find them.

My thoughts exactly! They should not have mentioned ANYTHING about any intel obtained as a result of the raid.
Must give them a chance to pack their stuff and dee dee mau.
Sporting chance and all that, harumph.
Seems pretty stupid, but maybe he’s pretty untouchable where he is now and he’ll be easier to pick off on the run?
This is not being “leaked” by accident. The spooks are listening to every heartbeat and every breath possible. A “leak” like this gets it beating faster.
Yeah, but why is this being leaked? The only legitimate reason I can think of is they have some Intel on him already and they want him to react. Other than that, any leak should be investigated.
Leaks aren’t always bad, and they’re often done deliberately. If Zawahari is hunkered down somewhere, this may get him moving. If he’s moving, he’ll be easier to spot.
One of the Chechan leaders of Al Queda was iced on Monday, two more were killed on Wednesday in Afghanistan I believe. Maybe Bin laden was more in control than we believed and those harddrives gave us actionable intelligence.
But we still don’t need to be telling CBS about it.
This is good news. We’re lucky, though, that Ayman can’t read English. Otherwise, he would be tipped off.
The White House knows for a fact that Al Zawahiri can’t read English.
Then a good thing Obama raced to the cameras to say “LOOK AT ME”, thus rendering the intel stale as the remaining terrorists hightailed it away from where ever they were hiding.

US trying to flush that rat out, we’re watching several locations probably.
I think it is a tactic to flush them out of their current secure quarters and make them run, leaving trails.
None of this would be in the press otherwise.
