Osama Bin Laden Raid: Al Qaeda 'Playbook' Revealed
abc ^ | 5/6/11 | PIERRE THOMAS (@PierreTABC) and RICHARD ESPOSITO

Posted on 05/06/2011 6:56:19 PM PDT by Nachum

U.S. intelligence is now in possession of a veritable "playbook" of al Qaeda operations -- from potential terror attack targets to information on international safe houses and top commanders -- thanks to the Navy SEAL raid that took down Osama bin Laden Sunday, officials told ABC News today.

The cache of electronic and handwritten materials obtained by the SEALs includes numerous hallmark al Qaeda plots including attacks on infrastructure targets such as water supply and transportation including rail and air, in what one official described as a "strategic guide for how to attack the U.S." In the past, al Qaeda planned for attacks on water supplies have included an interest in mining dams and in poisoning water supply. Intelligence experts have also have found what appears to be information about safe houses around the world and about al Qaeda leadership.

[ from potential terror attack targets to information on international safe houses and top commanders ]

Why is this information being released to the press?

Loose lips sink ships. And they allow terror networks time to hide. I can’t believe information like this would be leaking out.

Of course, I can’t believe much of anything about this bunch of yahoos who are supposedly in charge.

I’d like to see them release the safe house addresses.

We could put thousands of eyes on these mosques and gathering places.

Why is this information being released to the press?

My guess - they DIDN'T get the information referred to in the article, but they want them to think we did.

There is nothing ground breaking in what they released.

The juicy stuff is the locations of the safehouses, contacts, Al-queda member names, financiers, governments involved. I don’t think that’s going up on any billboards anytime soon.

I’m thinking that a better strategy would have been to torch Osama’s crib and claim that is was booby-trapped. And say that one burned laptop and a melted thumbdrive were recovered in the hopes of retrieving useful information from them to make it sound plausible, and keep the terrorists guessing.

RE> Why is this information being released to the press?

Maybe this headline on Fox will answer this question:
Days after killing of bin Laden, drone strike in Yemen misses emerging Al Qaeda frontman Anwar al-Awlaki

The ants are scattering. This whole deal should have been kept totally silent for 5 - 10 days until they fully leveraged the intel they grabbed up in Pak. We should have told Pak to shutup for two weeks and we won’t blame you for hiding OBL. Had they done so, we could have been rid of multiple AQ targets all over the globe. Obambi could barely find the nerve to consent to go after one OBL.

The Administration should have STFU, and the MSM are traitors to this country.

But nothing new to see here, move along ... don’t you have a tea party to attend? /Sarc

We all assume the press reports are correct. The real story of what we know may be different.
We may want some people to think we know or don’t certain things.

This is really bad KG. Makes me wonder if that is why Anwar Al-Awlaki was not at the location where they made the drone attack today. He was able to run off while ABC bragged and alerted AQ memebers that we had safe house locations.

To force movement among the enemy.

If they hunker down, we can’t see them. If we have some idea of who and where and we broadcast that we know exactly what and where, they will scatter and we can track the movement.

We don’t need them to move if we already know where they are. This information tipped them off and now they will scatter like roaches. What a disgrace.

A US drone attack in Yemen targeted but failed to kill one of al-Qaeda’s most influential figures, US reports say.

The US-born radical Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Awlaki is head of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

Two brothers believed to be mid-ranking al-Qaeda officials died in a drone strike in south Yemen on Thursday, Yemeni officials said.

Why is this information being released to the press?

If I were a member of Al Qaeda, I'd assume lots of information was compromised in the raid. It wouldn't take a report by the MSM to tip me off.

We need them to move so we can find the new safehouses. We need them to move so we can verify or newly establish their various relationships, vehicles, cellphone protocols. We need them to move so they will be anxious and make mistakes. We need them to move because, while moving, they aren’t in operational mode and if they are, they are lacking infrastructure and will be more prone to making mistakes.

I am certain there are other reasons. I am also certain that there are still competent professionals working to secure the USA. Not every agency is TSA. Not every agent is corrupt.

The alert for military bases and personnel was raised about 48 hours or so before we announced the kill. We do know a lot and there is obviously more than one surveillance in progress. The media has cooperated with intelligence agencies prior to this by withholding information and they have also been conduits for disinformation, knowingly or unknowingly.

It is to be wished that the enemy operatives are as dismissive and contemptuous of our intelligence services as are the FReepers posting to this thread. Arrogance usually loses, eventually.

EXACTLY MY THOUGHT!!!! It makes no sense unless.... it did not happen.

This is starting to stink all the way to the top. It feels as if the Federal Government is trying real hard to sell this to the public. All the changing in the story of what happened. I’m sorry but my B.S. Meter is going crazy!

I heard something earlier this week from an insider that blew me away. A part of me does not want to believe it. Anyone else hear anything this week about this entire event?
