White House: President Will Deliver Immigration Reform Speech (Tuesday in El Paso, TX)

EL PASO, Texas -- The White House confirmed Friday that President Barack Obama will deliver a speech on immigration reform when he visits El Paso on Tuesday.

El Paso Mayor John Cook told KFOX-14 that the president will likely give the speech at Chamizal National Park, though he said the White House has not made the final decision about location.

Immigration reform was a campaign promise Obama made as early as 2008.

"Unfortunately, I know myself, people from the National League of Cities, Municipal League, the Texas Border Coalition have all been somewhat disappointed that the federal government has not really addressed the issue [in a comprehensive way]," Cook told KFOX-14.

Ouisa Davis has practiced immigration law for more than 20 years. She told KFOX-14 she hopes next Tuesday's visit will be a turning point in immigration history.

The National Immigration Forum held a media briefing Friday in anticipation of next week's presidential visit.

Executive Director of the Forum Ali Noorani described the upcoming event in this way:

"It is a clarion call to Congress and to the country that we do need to fix our immigration system, and that comprehensive immigration reform is an absolute necessity."

"This is the place where the president needs to come to talk about immigration reform," Davis said of the Borderland. "Because we live it every day."

Ohaha sent the Pelacastre brothers an engraved invite to his Texas suck-up....
to reward them for their continuing efforts to undermine US ntl security. Read on.

July 21, 2006----BERGEN RECORD, NJ
Texans accused of selling counterfeit IDs (impoverished illegals "here for a better life" pay several thousand $$$ for fake ID's)

Pelcastre brothers, Angel and Jorge, Dallas, Texas, were a walking threat to US national security, expert document forgers who, for a few thousand dollars, could give anyone a new identity, NJ L/E authorities said.

The Texas brothers were a "one-stop shop" for a myriad of fake US documents, including birth certificates, Social Security cards, driver's licenses for any state in the US, passports and resident alien cards, said state police.

The Texas brothers turned a NJ hotel room into a business office and were readying a massive cache of fake Social Security cards for delivery to a local NJ identity broker.

Officers happened upon two cars bearing Texas plates in a NJ hotel parking lot. Authorities wouldn't identify the NJ hotel by name for fear it would spark retribution. The Drug Interdiction Task Force, regularly runs checks.

The Texas brothers were followed to a NJ office supply store nearby where they purchased computer supplies. Officers then followed the Texans to a NJ storage facility in Secaucus, NJ, where the Texans loaded several boxes into a car. One of them stood lookout. Authorities approached the Texas brothers when they returned to the NJ hotel and questioned them separately.

The Texas brothers consented to a search. Police recovered laminating sheets with built-in security features, pages of blank documents waiting for fake names and information, finished documents, computers and software to create the fake IDs. All told, the haul was worth about $500,000 on the street when sold to "impoverished illegals." Police also recovered $6,000 in cash, which was the first payment from a NJ fake document broker for a shipment of 500 Social Security cards. ####

These Democrats do not care about this country, period. They’re more concerned about their prospects for election than they are about the consequences to the country. We are being governed by a self-serving oligarchy.

.....They’re more concerned about their prospects for election than they are about the consequences to the country. ...

And sadly a good portion of our legal fellow citizens are eager enough to keep picking our pockets that they'll vote for Democrats.

The Hispanic population is growing and the number of anchor babies waiting in the wings is huge. They may well have a voting majority in a generation (in some locals they already do).

Conservatism has to make it's move now. Americans who love capitalism and freedom MUST get to the voting booth!

Turnout! Turnout!

So true.

No one who has immigrated to our country illegally should be given a pass without certain regulations being put forward.

One of those is passing a citizenship class.

Because the gaining of an American citizenship used to be a source of pride, a yearning fulfilled.

Part of the road to achieving citizenship carried with it the demand for knowledge of our rule of law, it actually MEANT something.

When al gore stands in a stadium and grants hundreds of thousands US citizenship with a wave of his hand, our entire culture suffers.

When our congress has all of us SUPPORTING PEOPLE who contribute nothing but suck off our tax dollars for their livihood, THAT IS WRONG. It breeds contempt, it breeds increased taxes( just ask Californians), END GAME GOAL-it breeds a voting group that votes ONLY for democrats because the democrats USE the rights of being an American citizen as a barter chip-you get to stay here and do nothing towards learning about our history and rule of law, and WE GET LOTS OF VOTES IN RETURN.

It is sick. And it also breeds class warfare and thus promotes division within our nation.

The democrats DO NOT TREASURE this nation and the immense honor of being a citizen here, instead, they use staying here as a carrot and suck off the VOTES they get in return to keep power.

Next: democrats will insist that people here illegally HAVE THE RIGHT to vote in our nation elections EVEN THO they are not CITIZENS and have not taken any course whatsoever to study our foundations and rule of law.

All for votes.

All for the democrats.

And so, so wrong.

How about a speech on the enforcement of the current immigration laws? That would necessarily include the phrase “round up and deport”.

Sounds like an exciting event. I’ll bet that a lot of folks from Northern Mexico will sneak over to hear the speech in person.

Well i was responding to post 4.
Fri, May 6, 2011 - Feds: All kids, legal or not, deserve K-12 education [excerpt] MIAMI — The U.S. Department of Education sent a letter to districts around the country Friday, reminding them that all students - legal or not - are entitled to a public education.

The letter comes amid reports that schools may be checking the immigration status of students trying to enroll, and reminds districts they are federally prohibited from barring elementary or secondary students on the basis of citizenship status.

“Moreover, districts may not request information with the purpose or result of denying access to public schools on the basis of race, color or national origin,” said the letter, which was signed by officials from the department’s Office of Civil Rights and the Department of Justice. [end excerpt]
