Donna Brazile: Voter Photo ID Not the Answer
Henry Louis Gates' "The Root" ^ | 4 May | Gordy

Posted on 05/08/2011 11:29:42 AM PDT by flowerplough

In the month since political analyst Donna Brazile took the helm as interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, she's been focused on matters relating to the 2012 election, including a push by Republican-controlled state legislatures to require photo identification at the polls. Republicans say that the laws are necessary to prevent voter fraud, but Brazile claims that they're a partisan tactic designed to weed out voters who are more likely to be Democrats and help the GOP on Election Day.

"The photo-identification laws that Republicans are pushing across the country are most likely to disenfranchise young Americans, poor Americans and minorities -- individuals who are least likely to have government identification or to be able to afford to get it," said Brazile in a recent DNC statement.

Eight states have photo-ID laws, and legislation is pending in more than 30 others. Among the more noteworthy measures:

* An Ohio bill would require one of four forms of photo identification at the polls: an Ohio driver's license, a personal state ID card, a military ID or a passport.

* Under a Kansas bill, not only must voters show a photo ID at the polls; in order to register to vote, they will also have to produce their birth certificate or other proof of citizenship.

* A pending Texas bill rejects voters with IDs from state universities but would accept, among a few other forms of identification, a handgun license.

Nope.

All the people she decribes have to have photo id of some kind already.

You can’t get utilities set up without photo id. You can’t buy cars without it. You can’t open any bank accounts without it. You have to show police officers id under certain circumstances. You cannot buy alcohol at a grocery store without it.

This is such a sham argument. All the bills always hav a provision if the people are too poor the state can provide them one. And illegals are not supposed to be able to vote so there’s no issue here, unless the dems (we know) want them to be able to vote illegally.

Vote fraud isn’t the answer, either. Can we please have uncorrupted elections? The public has so little input into its government as it is.

Brazile is uttering nonsense by claiming that individuals who are least likely to have government identification or to be able to afford to get it, will be disenfranchised. Even if this government spends not a penny of our tax dollars to ensure that all have access to government identification, other charitable organizations would step up to the plate to provide id. They already do.

A small fraction of the waste and corruption in government spending would easily pay for id for all.

The Democrats are deathly afraid of losing the edge they probably have with undocumented voters.

Idiot? No. She’s very good at making excuses for people to use in order to promote voter fraud.

I'd say her career up to now has been devoted to advancing the art of vote buying.

Brazile claims that they're a partisan tactic designed to weed out voters who are more likely to be Democrats and help the GOP on Election Day.

"The photo-identification laws that Republicans are pushing across the country are most likely to disenfranchise young Americans, poor Americans and minorities -- individuals who are least likely to have government identification or to be able to afford to get it," said Brazile in a recent DNC statement.

Individuals who are most likely to rely on government, tax-payer-supported welfare. Individuals every bit as likely to have government identification as any other American. "Afford to get it" -- what a laugh. So what Brazile is really telegraphing is that Democrats need these cheats to win.

What is really happening in America is that a minority has, by fraud, seized power. A perfect storm of news press, entertainment, and eduction has lured the majority into thinking itself the minority.

Those of us who are disgusted with the majority of our fellow Americans, the "idiot" voters who elected these clowns who must outnumber us, right? --- those of us who coil back in contempt at the majority of our compatriots, are doing harm.

We are falsely accusing each other because cheating liberals, through the perception Americans have of each other as presented by the MSM, news and entertainment -- and that includes FOX news -- have made it that way. FOX presents the template built for "conservatives." Mark my word, FOX will pretend Palin is invisible. Many Americans base their perceptions on what fellow conservatives are thinking with the honest faith that FOX won't fail them the same way other Alphabets have. My bet is that FOX will do just that.

So we have an increasingly angry general populace, disgusted with Obama, disgusted with liberalism, and disgusted with a biased press, that is inclined to mistakenly perceive more than half of its fellow Americans as in disagreement.

Once that illusion is broken, and vigilance against vote fraud is a SURE WAY to break that illusion, things will start to move fast.

A frightening thing to consider: judges and the courts in deciding vote fraud cases will be the last and final recourse before real violence, because a liberal minority has seized control through the likes of Barney Franks, Harry Reid, Al Franken -- blatant frauds; no one elected them. Fakes fail because they're fake. Many liberals in power are fake representatives; the majority oppose them.

Notice every election cycle it’s is the Democrat Party that gets caught cheating and Democrats get convicted/go to jail.

It’s no wonder they’re against voter ID.

I also think that anyone who doesn’t vote for say 4 years are sent a notice as to if they want to stay a registered voter. If they don’t they are purged from the rolls and must re-register with ID when they vote again.

Have you ever heard a lib on television explaining what a burden it is for their constituents to produce a valid photo ID? Its Intimidation, its expensive, and, of course, its racist

And where, may I ask, are the Republicans lined up to say “This is designed to prevent illegal voting which is the mainstay of the Democrat Party. Tough sh*t.”

Now, you know Republicans don't like to talk that way. Extending the hand of comity and keeping partisanship out of government is much more important.

The Democrat canard that the poor will not be able to produce ID is complete nonsense. They are amongst the most skilled in the land at procuring official identification, they need it in order to qualify for the panoply of government benefits to which they are entitled. Don’t have any doubt that the Democrat base can produce iron clad documentation when its to their advantage to do so.

The public has so little input into its government as it is.

Only because the voices of the actual voters are drowned out by the fraudulent votes.

It's because these guys are stupid enough to think the liberal minority is the majority. They're cowed.

...when she said the pillars of the Democratic Party were African Americans, organized labor, women and homosexuals.

Well, at least she was honest.
Of course, honesty gets you nowhere in the DemocRat party.

I recall no serious problems with photo IDs when the government cheese program required it.

The very best result (the one we will see results from) of the 2010 midterms were the large number of Republicans that were elected to the State Houses. This is just one of many examples of the REAL difference it is making across the Nation.

For all of there bluster, I have not seen real movement that would help us in any longterm way at the Federal level. Our hope is in the STATES forcing reform of the Feds.
