“It would be good to challenge his decisions instead of condemning the man.”

Good advice thank you.

I hope I don’t sound like I am condemning West, I am sincerely just a bit disappointed in the vote and like I said, would like to know more-I am hoping there is more of a reason than what his spokesperson said (which made no sense)

I knew you didn’t really mean it.....and here’s hoping you don’t have to bring it back out for Congressman West.

obamacare/deathcare...

In terms of the Nation's future, it is the single most important issue facing the congress critters...

This guy is a clueless dimwit...

The problem with conservatives is that they don’t stand behind the people they elect.

True enough. While we sit here and whine, liberals are swarming the townhall meetings and its only going to get worse over the summer.

Folks - this is a disagreement on tactics and an interesting topic to discuss. West is saying that it is a waste of time to keep sending legislation to the Senate that we know in advance will die there.

I disagree. But I do agree that this needs more thought on tactics to improve chance of success. But even if we know it will die we should still keep sending the bills over til hell freezes over.

Bingo.

Our Integrity is based on a day to day while theirs is based on obtaining their vision of society.

They have succeeded on ALL fronts of the culture wars beacuse of their willingness to make small incremental gains via very flawed candidates.

We are all or nothing. So we have Abortion, God less Union Schools and soon Obama-care.

But as we wave goodbye to the US we can say :

“We have our Integrity”!

They might contract it other ways.

One thing at a time is better than nothing at all. If the more feasible way to dismantle CommieCare is by going after one thing at a time, so be it. It’s better than waiting for a magic Conservative unicorn to make everything better all at once.

IMO, chipping away is a useless exercise. There is NWIH a Democrat controlled Senate is going to pass any legislation that substantially changes Obiecare. LTC West is a man of substance who has little use for the kind of political theater put forward by Boehner and his merry band of RINOs.

“....there are more important issues that needs their attention at the moment.”

That always concerns me, who decides that?

And, this was simply a vote, how much attention would voting the other way have taken?

However, Williams did unknowingly expose a truth. We aren’t pressuring our congressmen the way we should. We need to get back out in the streets and to our townhall meetings and flog our congresscritters into line.

Quite correct. The battle does not stop at the voting booth, it begins there. We need to make our elected officials feel the heat regardless of whether or not they were our choice in an election.

It sounds to me like he took a pass on a bill that was a foregone conclusion, and used the opportunity to get into a news story talking about foreign policy. (wink wink)

I like West A LOT. On Beck's show a week or so ago he was awesome.

It’s always about choosing the lesser of two evils. I hate to admit it, but for each of us, it’s pretty ideal to find a great conservative out there. Weigh out their various attributes. While yes, you aren’t going to find someone with whom you perfectly agree with, the “lesser of two evils” still has some evil to him. I agree with you on West, he weighs out about right most of the time, and I would like to hear from him what some of his reasoning was for this bill as well.

He's trying to use "right reason" to work his way through something that appears stupid to him.

After all, if the Senate isn't going to sign on to these proposals he's asking why vote them up.

The idea is to keep the Democrats on their toes ~ because ultimately the House controls the budget. With these votes on record the House leadership can keep the members straight when it comes to voting on the 2012 budget (which ought to be starting piece by piece pretty soon).

West may not be used to this sort of politics, but that's how it's done.

Sorry Allen... I love you man but I can't ever vote for you. Your reasoning is NOT Conservative and until obama is out of office, the only way we can kill obama care is to cut funding. Want proof?

In 2006 the Congress and the Senate voted on a bill to build 700 miles of Border fence... it is law... Bush signed it. Ever wonder why not one foot of fence has been built... NO FUNDING!

“Bush signs bill to build 700-mile fence on U.S.-Mexico border

By staff and wire reports

WASHINGTON — President Bush this morning signed into law a bill authorizing the federal government to install fencing, cameras, motion sensors and other types of barriers to stem illegal immigration along 700 miles of the U.S.-Mexican border.
“This bill will help protect the American people. This bill will help make our borders more secure,” Bush said before signing the legislation.”

I’ve talked to my congressman extensively and he worries that the tea partiers aren’t showing up and the unions are. He won’t retreat but says a lot of the congressmen elected last november probably will if they aren’t reminded that we’re out here.

It is not a downfall IMHO... it is what seperates the wheat from the chaff... FR is FR... Townhall is a much more forgiving place.

I trust Allen West totally. There is more to this than is being explained. Col. West is a patriot and he will do what is right, IMO.

I’m sure West wants the entire travesty repealed. He knows how horrific it is.
