"He was unarmed; why kill him?"

I've asked the same question. Why not keep him alive and water board him until he sings like a canary? If his computers were a wealth of information, wouldn't he be as well? I'm glad he is dead but I believe we missed an opportunity.

Israel captured nazi’s and brought them to trial.

Recall Eichmann. If ever there was justification for assassination Eichmann was it.

That said, the Mossad did assassinate the Munich Massacre savages.

I would have been happy with a ‘dead’ photo of obl immediately following the kill. Now the entire telling of the operation has become a fiasco.

Do you have proof he was killed?  You just gonna take our word for it?

Need Proof?  Too bad....

Suppose KSM had been killed instead of being taken alive. Would we have gotten bin Laden?

I'm fine with bin laden being dead, I just think we could have gotten information from him before we killed him. And if not, we could have made his life a living hell. For someone who has caused so much pain and suffering, a shot to the head was too quick and too painless.

The current occupant in the white house would have put obl up at the Hilton.

No sense thinking that sanity would have prevailed and he would have been interrogated. Wouldn’t want to offend the jihadists, don’t you know.

“He was unarmed; why kill him?”

Because it is necessary to expunge them from the fabric of humanity

Well the way I see it is we got the official version and then we have the real version. I mean do people actually think they brought him on a ship and kissed his arse by giving him ye olde traditional Islamic burial by carefully washing his body, then carefully wrapping it in a shawl? Hell no, it wouldn’t suprise me in the least if they pssed and crapped down his mouth and stuck a Kiran up his arse which I hope to hell they did, or that they even kept him alive and are right now having him read aloud every last one of the 911 victims over and over. On the other hand he may have very well have been killed and had his butt kissed considering who we have as POTUS.

Good point. I guess I'm still thinking about the Bush years when getting information from terrorists was this nation's priority. Hussein would likely have had OBL treated like a celebrity who needn't even submit to interrogation if he chose not to.

That's what we get for electing a muslim community organizer to head our military.

first...it’s possible we did get information before he died ( not something any of us would be told about)

second..does weaken the morale of the followers to have him dead

third... God’s justice is worse than anything we can cook up..

"He was unarmed; why kill him?"

Because capturing him takes him from the military realm into the criminal? (Per several stupid Supreme Court decisions, and the Clinton and Obama Administrations)

First..a 40-minute interrogation isn't what I had in mind. But then, there is nothing to make us believe the trainee in the White House would have allowed a real interrogation should we have taken him alive.

second...I agree his death would have weakened morale. But we could have interrogate him first (water boarding, etc) and then make him room temperature.

third...God’s justice is worse than anything we can cook up. But that doesn't mean we couldn't have made him wish he were dead before we killed him.

The harsh reality is, the same man who told us OBL was dead was the same man who told us his birth certificate was real just one week earlier. That considered, why should we believe a word of it?

I mean do people actually think they brought him on a ship . . .

I imagine the anti-American communist in our White House ordered that OBL be given an appropriate funeral and buried at sea. I like to hope that the real Americans in our military heard the orders of our alleged "Commander-in-Chief" and gave that mass murderer an appropriate funeral for the embodiment of evil before dumping the bacon-covered body overboard. So long as BHO is fulfilling the role of CIC, his orders must be followed, but I see no reason to understand his orders as he intended.

Problem is if he was captured alive, Obama would have read him his miranda rights before they left Pakistan, given him a lawyer, housed him in some upper class white collar federal prison and wanted him to have his trial in a federal court. He’d have been given top quality medical care, food of his choice and just about abything else he would have wanted.

That’s the progressive socialts, marxists Obama way... A few rounds to the head saved us all the embarassment.

the length of the interrogation isn’t the issue ... wether 5 minutes or five months its the info that’s gained not the amount of time it took to get it....I agree the POTUS doesn’t have the stomach for it....but I bet the navy seals on scene did

it’s possible that even under a real interrogation he may not have given up any more information than what was gained after raiding his computers, thumb drives etc...

I am no supporter of our current POTUS and honestly neither you or I have the clearance to know how his death was really handled..as much as we desire justice and vengeance for those murdered on 9/11 the mission of the seals wasn’t one of vengeance but of national security... it is possible that the best way to accomplish that goal was a quick death and disposal of the body.

the harsh reality is that with an undercover operation there is no way an average citizen will ever have enough knowledge of what went down to be able to give any kind of meaningful analysis and we can decide to believe it or not

Gee, will this be covered on the morning “news” shows? Today? See B.S.? GMA?

Or will it be on local “news” reports?

LOL.

No, I suspect every show this morning will pull quotes from last night’s “60 Minutes” propaganda piece and continue to shill for Hussein.

The knee-pad routine from the media is getting old. After a while, all that porn starts to look the same.

I know it is speculation at this point, but I find it easy to believe the SEALS may have been told to take him alive but found that he “resisted”.

The SEALS know Hussein is not a strong defender of the military or the fight on terror. They may have had to make a field decision that UBL alive would not ever be served justice by Hussein—not the kind of justice UBL deserved, anyway—and did what they had to do to make sure UBL got his just reward.

“If his computers were a wealth of information, wouldn’t he be as well? “

I doubt he would be able to provide much additional info that was not on the computers or other items. IMO keeping him alive would have been MUCH more trouble than it was worth. Besides, he deserved killing more than anyone in the last 50 years.

***I would have been happy with a ‘dead’ photo of obl immediately following the kill. *****

I would love to see the helmet camera of him looking like a deer caught in the headlights just before half his head disappears.

They could take that film to the GENRERAL TOMMY FRANKS MUSEUM in HOBART, OK and show it over and over again right next to the loop film they show of what happened on 9-11.

Why not release a screen capture from the head cameras of the SEALs while obl was still alive to prove he was in the compound.

The story line is an epic fail, IMO.

More likely the answer is :

Because the US courts might try to release him.

You know The Hague would be screaming their heads off about his possible mistreatment.
