The U.S. Senate today overcame a Republican filibuster and approved a former Planned Parenthood abortion business director, John McConnell, as a federal judge in Rhode Island.

Senators voted 63-33 to surpass the 60-vote threshold necessary to stop the filibuster and approve the nomination of McConnell’s nomination to the District Court for the District of Rhode Island. his nomination previously cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee recently on a party-line 11-7 vote.

Senate Republicans joining all Democrats to end debate included Scott Brown of Massachusetts, Susan Collins of Maine, Lyndsey Graham of South Carolina, Johnny Isakson of Georgia, Mark Kirk of Illinois, John McCain of Arizona, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Olympia Snowe of Maine, and John Thune of South Dakota.

McConnell was confirmed on party lines in a 50-44 vote afterwards.

I never agreed with that standard.

The judges should all run the gauntlet of abuse ~ and those who are weak and seek political succor from their friends in the Senate should be the first to be dismissed.

One of the problems we have with the federal judiciary is entirely too many sociopaths get put into place as judges ~ the feeling being that sociopaths are demonstrating judicial temperament. I suppose you can do that for a while but if it's not backed up with some quick way of removing them from the bench next thing you know you have a bunch of very dangerous people up there ~ and that's where we are at.

For example, NO person in the management of Planned Parenthood can ever be thought of by anyone as anything other than a sociopath, and a particularly dangerous one. Why would you nominate someone like that? Why would you vote for someone like that?

Blechhh.

Not a single one of these named are worthy of retention. Any Judge that promotes or defends the unconstitutional abortion industry-or the practice— any Judge who like Vaughn Walker is anti-Christian and promotes abomination is Not a righteous judge but evil and anti-American .Those who favor the idea of government “doing something” even when it means allowing evil
to advance (so they can get on with other business) is just a political GAME.And deception in itself.

“Target these RINOS!!”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but of that list of 9 Senators, 5 were just elected/re-elected in 2010 (Thune, Isakson, Kirk, McCain, Murkowski).

I'm done with the GOP. I am going to change my voter registration to either Independent or Libertarian, and while I will always support GOP candidates over Dems, I refuse to besmirch my own name by identifying myself as a part of this pack of GOP cowards.

There is absolutely no reason for this obviously biased and compromised judge to be seated. None. I'm done and I'm disgusted with the party I've been a member of for 21 years (since I was eligible to vote).

The sole purpose of the Republican Party is to serve as an ineffective alternative to the Democrat Party.

I strongly considered switching when McCain was named the 2008 nominee, but then held off when he had the good sense to have Sarah Palin as his VP candidate. Then, Palin had to compromise her own beliefs by actively campaigning for McCain in his primary battle with JD Hayworth, all in the name of the GOP.

Sick of it, and I'm done. If these clowns didn't hear the loud and clear message of the voters last November, they never will change. Instead, they seem to be more willing to work with the Dems, which truly baffles me.

The Dems made Bush seat judicial picks by recess appointment, while McCain and the RINOs give in to the Dems.

At the very least, this baby-killing judge should have been seated by recess, and at that point, use that appointment as a campaign issue in swing states. But no, we have to play nice, don't we, and roll over on our backs like cowardly dogs.

..and a convenient whipping boy for the dems. They routinely haul out the charge that Republicans want to starve women, children, and old people, destroy the middle class, etc., and Republicans meekly stand there and take the abuse.

Typical RINO deception. Cave on the important cloture vote, then vote NO on the main vote when you know you are going to lose anyway. This way they go back to their state and tell their constitutents that they opposed a liberal judicial appointment, when they actually supported it. Does anyone think these clowns would do anything different even if they again held the Senate majority after 2012?

But he voted against the measure to maintain his fictitious, ultra “Conservative” rating.

Back in 2008 before and after McLame won the GOP nomination, the pro-choice groups were noticeable quiet. This vote explains the reason why.
