Iowa abortion bill planned!

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A state senator says he will introduce legislation later this week designed to block a Council Bluffs clinic that would provide late-term abortions.

Iowa City Democrat Joe Bolkcom told reporters Tuesday he will introduce his measure in the Senate Ways and Means Committee, which he heads. He says his bill would prevent Nebraska Dr. LeRoy Carhart from opening a clinic in Council Bluffs, but it also would allow abortions in order to protect the health of women.

Carhart announced plans for a Council Bluffs clinic after Nebraska approved a law largely outlawing late-term abortions.

The Iowa House also has approved a measure banning abortions after 20 weeks, but it's more restrictive and doesn't allow exceptions in cases of rape, incest or fetus abnormalities.

Read the fine print. Bolkom wants a “health” exception.

Also - the full Senate already pulled the House bill OUT of committee. Now Bolkcom gets assigned as floor manager and wants to run it back through a committee. Bolkcom is a pro-abort; I suspect his intent is to kill this bill one way or another.

They won’t pass a thing - Gronstall won’t allow it.

Carhart will get his Gronstall Clinic.

What the Republicans ought to do is pass a 100% minimum excise tax on fees for abortions after 20 weeks...

This is not good news at all. It’s a diversionary tactics by very pro-abort RATS in the Senate. Never, ever trust a RAT.

This is a great idea but I don't think it will pass constitutional muster. I don't think you can single out entities but it's worth a try.

Mickelson is calling it the Gronstal Clinic and we need to hang that around his neck.

Don’t believe anything that Joe Bolkcom says. He is a fanatic leftist. His ex-wife ran an abortion clinic.

The fact that Senate Democratic Leader Mike Gronstal has put him in charge of abortion shows what a total abortion lover Mr. Gronstal is.

Supposedly, they have come up with a way to prevent Carhart from coming to Iowa without limiting abortions.

It will be interesting to see what they’ve come up with...

As others have said,, they bunch of libs cannot be trusted.

Not great news, at all. And tonight, a motion was made to bring a vote on the truly pro-life bill, the “life at conception” bill, and it went down in defeat with 24 Republicans and 1 Democrat voting for the motion. There were 34 Republicans who voted AGAINST the motion!?!?!? I’m ashamed to say that my RINO rep voted against it.
