In search of Hispanic votes and a long-shot immigration overhaul, President Barack Obama on Tuesday stood at the U.S.-Mexico border for the first time since winning the White House and declared it more secure than ever. He mocked Republican lawmakers for blocking immigration over border security alone, saying they won't be happy until they get a moat with alligators along the border.
"They'll never be satisfied," he said.
Stymied by both chambers of Congress, the president ditched lawmakers in favor of voters who might pressure them, making an appeal to the public on a hot and dusty day far outside Washington. He told a friendly El Paso crowd that it's up to them to tell Congress to pass legislation providing a pathway to citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants.
The approach also allowed the president to make clear that it's Republicans — not him — standing in the way of immigration legislation. As his re-election campaign approaches it's a message he wants broadcast loud and clear to Latino voters who don't like his administration's heavy deportations and feel he never made good on his promise to prioritize immigration legislation during his first year in office.
"I am asking you to add your voices to this," Obama said. "We need Washington to know that there is a movement for reform gathering strength from coast to coast. That's how we'll get this done."

Let’s send several thousand “surplus” Florida alligators to swim in the Rio Grande. The climate should be OK for them.
A natural “moat” with reptiles will have been achieved for Texas.
For the rest of the border region, I recommend that a national rattlesnake roundup be held and the “catch” be transported directly to the AZ border and any other similarly affected areas. Cali maybe.

The idea that the administration has actually fixed the border, that the US sothern border is secure, is a laughable joke.
This administration including Holder’s Justice Department is doing just the opposite and not enforcing tbe illegal immihration laws that are alewady on the books.

1. Anyone with a brain knows the translation of “comprehensive immigration reform” is just one word beginning with the letter A.
2. Very few people mistake immigration, for illegal and undocumented border crossings.

Just to clarify, Obama is maocking the Republicans over “illegal” immigration. There’s a big difference between that and legal immigration.
This President is a joke. He talks about a path to citizenship. He says its time for the Republicans to get to work with the Democrats on reforming immigration. What he does not say is that the Democrats have the reform bill already written and plan on introducing only that bill, not allow any amendments from Republicans and when Republicans complain attack them for being partisan.

Obama has no interest in immigration. Ever the racist, he just wants the voters for his party and another permanent underclass it can exploit. We're only saved from this insanity because the two parties don't want to share "credit" for giving away citizenship to millions of new voters.
I'm sick to death of "we are a nation of immigrants" pablum. The debate isn't about lawful immigrants. It's about aliens. Immigrants use the front door. Aliens do not.
Nations the world over and throughout human history have had limited legal immigration policies to avoid losing their unique cultures, values and prosperity. Anything else is suicide.
