INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indiana won a key victory in its fight to cut off public funding for Planned Parenthood Wednesday when a federal judge refused to block a tough new abortion law from taking effect, a move that could boost Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels' image among social conservatives as he considers running for president.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt denied Planned Parenthood of Indiana's request for a temporary restraining order despite arguments that the law jeopardizes health care for thousands of women.

This is one reason why the party of the president counts — even if the president is personally a mush.

On January 18, 2010 Judge Pratt was nominated for a federal
judgeship for the United States District Court for the
Southern District of Indiana. She is the first African-American
to receive a nomination for the Southern District of Indiana. [1]
Pratt was recommended for nomination to President Obama
by Senator Evan Bayh. The seat that Pratt is
nominated for was vacated when David Hamilton was elevated to the Seventh Circuit in 2009. [2][3][4]

She evidently doesn't think that certained favored special interest groups have a constitutional right to stick their snouts in the public funding trough.

I hope ObaMao gets as tormented by her appointment as George Bush Sr. got vexed from his appointment of David Souter.

...despite arguments that the law jeopardizes health care for thousands of women.

If Planned Parenthood cared so much about the health care of these women, why don't they perform their services for FREE?

Some black folks may be getting the hint that abortion is more redolent of the KKK than it is of rock ribbed conservatives.

Gotta love AP’s editorializing in this “news” story: “...despite arguments that the law jeopardizes health care for thousands of women.”

My Liberal friend posted something on Facebook this morning about Daniels signing the bill and said, “I guess fiscal conservatives just don’t care about women’s healthcare.”

I have yet to understand how they equate abortion, the killing of a human being, as healthcare.

Besides, I’m sure the Feds will pick up the difference and PP can go on with their “family planning” without missing a beat.

“I hope ObaMao gets as tormented by her appointment as George Bush Sr. got vexed from his appointment of David Souter.”

Or the epic Trojan horse appointment of Earl Warren by President Eisenhower.

Why is the court doing the people’s business?

I'm not sure Earl Warren was a mistake. Eisenhower was the Colin Powell of his era and a willing tool of the RINO wing of the party. He was pulled out of retirement in 1952 to keep the nomination from Robert Taft, a genuine conservative voice.

I suspect the Earl Warren appointment was just payback for the favor.

Eisenhower apparently did express his regrets on the appointments of Warren and Brennan.

http://www.nytimes.com/1997/07/28/opinion/l-eisenhower-s-mistakes-336475.html

Perhaps as vividly expressed as “the biggest damnfool mistake I ever made.”. Sadly, I can’t find direct confirmation of this on the internet.

One for the road, and a very interesting counterpoint to the Community Activist of the United States’ churlish interaction with the USSCT: http://www.eisenhowermemorial.org/presidential-papers/second-term/documents/211.cfm
