I always wanted a 911 of that vintage.
Had to settle for a 914. (please don’t say it...)

No, I wont. It's still a Porsche. And you knew it every time you got it serviced, right?
I had a 916 too. This is the only pic I have of it, taken by the guy at Photobuys in LA when I listed it for sale...

Still have my 1974 914. Mine has the 1.8L fuel injected 4 cylinder engine. The original engine was the 2.0L with a carb. The engine from my car was put into a "shell" that was more nearly ready for slalom competition. Mine is plenty perky for that purpose. I need to replace the rear mag wheels. The "bead" surface has corroded resulting in a slow leak of pressure. I've made some hard left turns at 45 MPH that plastered my passenger to the door. I avoid doing a right turn that way as I would have "company" in the driver's seat.
Lately, I prefer staying on 2 wheels for canyon carving, peg scraping kinds of riding. I would love to get some track time to try out the knee dragging turns. Getting a bit old for that kind of stuff :-(

I had a '63 356B, and a '73 914-6... until I got married, wife had baby, and we bought an Olds Custom Cruiser. I wanted a 911 Targa.
I keep telling myself that I'll get another Porsche, but the only likely candidate is more than I want to spend. I don't go that fast these days, and racing is out of the question! I've thought about a VW Toureg SUV with the 10 cylinder TDI. 560 ft/lbs of torque, and way too much capability. Yet, it's $28k less than a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
I'll probably just keep my Ford Exploder until it dies...
