Gilbert, AZ --(Ammoland.com)- Sandy Froman, past president of the National Rifle Association and one of the nation’s foremost Second Amendment activists, will be the keynote speaker at Knife Rights’ Second Annual Sharper Future Awards Breakfast to be held June 11th during BLADE Show in Atlanta, Georgia (at the Waverly Renaissance Hotel).

Froman’s speech is titled: “How To Win a Knife Fight–Lessons Learned in the Crucible of the Second Amendment”

Besides her continued involvement with NRA as a member of its Board of Directors with a lifetime appointment to the Executive Council, she is a past president and a current trustee of The NRA Foundation. Sandy was also recently elected chairwoman of the

Joe Foss Institute, which is dedicated to promoting and teaching patriotism, public service, integrity and an appreciation for America’s freedoms to our nation’s youth. Sandy is a highly respected attorney with a private civil law practice in Tucson, Arizona. Sandy Froman

Froman didn’t shoot her first gun until she was in her early 30′s. However, she favored knives from an early age and used her grandfather’s pocketknife to whittle balsa wood kite frames into bows and arrows for hunting tomatoes in her mother’s garden. Her love for knives was discouraged by her mother, but encouraged 25 years later by her late husband Bruce Nelson, who was a member of the American Bladesmith Society and studied knifemaking with Bo Randall and Dan Dennehy.

Sandy owns a number of highly collectible knives and appreciates them as both tools she uses daily and when she hunts, and as fine examples of American craftsmanship. She believes that rights that are not exercised cease to exist, and so carries her knives as well as her guns, wherever the law allows. Sandy was Knife Rights’ first Cornerstone Charter Member and has supported the organization since before it was officially launched in 2006.

Sandy is a passionate, high energy and dynamic speaker who has traveled world-wide speaking in defense of our rights. Those attending Knife Rights’ Sharper Future Awards Breakfast are in for a treat. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear and meet Sandy Froman.

Arizona has almost complete Constitutional knife rights. You can buy own, and carry any kind of blade if you are 21 years of age or older. The State has preempted this field of law so that local governments may not pass any laws in this area.

Good for Arizona. Hopefully the rest of the states will come to their senses on this subject as well as guns. “Arms” are any and all weapons....not just guns. If a guy wants to strap a samurai sword over his shoulder, then it should be legal to do so.

Knives are funny things -- to politicians.

To them they're like some rare African Tree Toad. Which is, you can pretty much *own* any one you want. BUT! Don't dare carry it outside your house unless it meets 739 odd 'carry qualifications' they dreamed up on their way to work. Because if you do get caught in 'violation' you may as well be carrying a loaded gun. Or a rare African Tree Toad.

I'm series'. In Illinois all the 'knife laws' are included in the Firearms Regulations (laws).

But the biggest joke is the law against 'Automatic Knives' (Switchblades)(1). Even though there's been a Federal Law against them since about 1954 (thank you James Dean and Marlon Brando) every state also 'bans them' (hold the laughter down please). Yet everyone and their brother can pretty much *legally* buy (and carry) one.

(1) The joke is Switchblades are normally treated as a local violation even though they're supposed to be Felonies AND a Federal Crime to boot. So you pay $75.00 to the nice Judge, oops, Bailiff, lose the knife, and go home --- then buy another Switchblade online.

I'm almost 63 and have been carrying a knife since I got my first 'Official Boy Scout Knife' when I was about six. And I wasn't alone, we all had a Boy Scout Knife in our pocket (heck, you can't play Mumbletypeg without one, right?).

This included all though High School to today.(yes Frances, that was a knife in my pocket). I can't go anywhere without at least my Swiss Army Knife on me. And I DO feel naked if I leave my Boot Knife at home. It's almost like not having underwear on :-)

an aside: One reason I like NCIS is Gibbs' Rule #9: Don't go anywhere without a knife.

every state also 'bans them'

There are at least seven states that do not ban them. I think New Hampshire is the eighth. They are perfectly legal in Arizona. Others of the seven or eight states that do not ban them may have local restrictions, but I know that New Hampshire has a law on the way through their legislature that would eliminate the local laws, much as Arizona has.

*** every state also 'bans them' ***

My mistake. Should have inserted 'most'.
I caught that after I posted but had to scoot off FR to do work (that money thing).
