An Afghan policeman has shot dead an American soldier and wounded three others in the southern province of Helmand.
A member of the Afghan national police opened fire on the Americans on Thursday during a full scale scuffle in the provincial capital city of Lashkar Gah, located about 555 kilometers (344 miles) south of Kabul, a Press TV correspondent reported.
The shooting marks the second incident of its kind in less than a month.
On April 27, a veteran Afghan army pilot opened fire on foreign troops at Kabul airport, killing eight US-led soldiers and a contractor.
Several US-led foreign soldiers and Afghan troops were also wounded in the incident. The Afghan pilot was shot dead at the scene.
Afghans have become increasingly angry over the continued US-led occupation of their country, which also affects Afghan police and army ranks.
NATO troops have recently come under a number of assaults by disgruntled Afghan security forces with some of the attacks causing multiple fatalities among the US-led forces.
A total of 168 US-led foreign troops have been killed in Afghanistan so far this year

They are armed and our guys aren’t. And I bet that’ll stay that way. Sitting ducks.
Afghan officer shoots dead US soldier
Did an Afghan write this headline?
Some brain damaged individual did.
Yes: The headline sucks.
We need to bring our men and women home from Afghanistan.
Bin Laden isdead and there is no reason for us to stay amongst people who cannot be trusted.
The whole of Afghanistan isn’t worth the life of one US soldier. If we ever do leave they will go straight back to their old ways anyway. What are we staying for?
It’s PressTV, iranian media.......
during a full scale scuffle???????
A friggin scuffle? we thi
That is what we call combat nowadays.
This is what we think of our soldiers??
They will have shoot first authority (current ROE’s be damned)
Good! We did the same thing in VN when appropriate. Please thank your son for his service.
Why isn’t the headline screaming “warcrime”?
Oh, that’s right, the media since Vietnam has always has those in its ranks who side with the enemy.
They never wanted us there anyway; they wanted the Taliban government. The “Northern Alliance” opposed them, but they were foreigners anyway. We may not have to engage in open warfare with Islam (yet), but there is certainly no reason to expose American lives to them.
We should take our troops out and nuke every mountaintop and valley in that shithole of a country, period.
My son is due to deploy there this fall. I’m more concerned about this deployment that his two in Iraq.
The enemy are inside the gates.
I’m sick and tired of this crap. It’s way past time to get the hell out of that cesspool and let the camel jockeys go on killing each other like they’ve been doing for centuries.
With the current pussies we have in charge our troops aren’t even allowed to defend themselves.
If you’re going to fight a war-—fight it to win. Patton is rolling over in his grave.
If you are talking about the White House gates then I agree with you.
What kind of brain dead ROE’s have our troops unarmed in a place crawling with Muslim Savages?
Burn their poppy fields and lime and salt them so nothing ever grows there again.
My son just started his deployment, and you are correct the Platoon leaders gave them the talk about how to work with the Afghans, and DO NOT TRUST THEM FOR 1 SECOND AND NEVER, EVER LET THEM WALK BEHIND YOU!!!
I’m glad of that. I don’t know why we are offering up our brightest and best to the PC gods.
Most Afghanis are probably reliable or simply don’t care, but the country has a corrupt and Islamified military/police establishment, and ignoring this ranges from foolishness to malicious neglicence.
