Mitt Romney’s Illogical, Terrible Health-Care Address (He bombed! Why even bother running Mitt?)
NRO ^ | Thursday May 12, 2010

Mitt Romney just gave a more articulate defense of Obamacare than President Obama ever has. He continues to believe that the individual mandate is a good idea, despite the fact that the “free-rider” problem is a myth. His effort to make a distinction between Romneycare and Obamacare was not persuasive: If anything, he convincingly made the opposite case, that Romneycare and Obamacare are based on the same fundamental concept.

In recent months, Romney has claimed that Romneycare was a specific solution for the specific needs of Massachusetts. But in his remarks, he did not name one specific aspect of the Massachusetts health-care environment that is unique to that state. If there are no important differences between the Massachusetts health-care system and that of other states, why shouldn’t he believe that Romneycare should be the model for every other state?

I think Trump now has a better chance of being the nominee than Romney. And Trump has no chance at all.

Deal breaker for me. If the republicans go over our heads and give the nomination to this guy I’m not voting.

The “Free Rider” is a myth? Not in this world. How many hospitals have been bankrupted by the illegal free riders much less the citizens who don’t pay for anything.

Mitt is one of those who just cannot accept the message you and the voters have for him.

And before anyone whines to me that I’m electing Obama - what’s the difference. Who cares. Romney is just as bad.

Get real nominees are created by the VOTERS not some mythic party. Mitt (as bad as he is) is ten times preferable to Urkel.

I been thinking all day about this wonderful Mitt speech that will enlighten us boobs as to just why he okay Romneycare, why he had to do it, why it was okay then but Obamacare is not okay now....on and on.

I thought to myself, well what possible justification could the man have? A justification that would convince me, that is.

Because I don’t care that it was a state thing, I don’t care that the Mass legislature was filled with liberal Democrats, I don’t care that health care costs were dragging the state through the mud....a Conservative would never espouse any kind of huge government takeover like happened with Romneycare.

Bear in mind, residents of Mass MUST buy health insurance. I got relatives in Mass....relatives now prepping to move out in large part because of the burden this Romneycare puts upon them.

How could I ever vote FOR someone who signed such a thing into law?

Because Romney could have VETOED the thing.

I don’t care that he changed this and he changed that and I don’t care that it would have been far worse without his pressure and I don’t care that the Mass legislature would have over-ridden his veto.

The man signed into being a law that requires citizens to purchase health insurance if they wanted to live there. No, it’s not car insurance, not the same thing. Without car insurance, if that be the case, you don’t drive.

You don’t get health insurance...what? You don’t live?

Or did Romney veto the bill and I don’t know what I’m talking about? Wouldn’t be the first time.

Because no other excuse will make him right for me except if he’d done everything in his executive power to stop the bill. If he did not, he should not pee upon my feet and tell me it’s raining.

Can Dems put Mitty on the Rep ballot?

I’m sure they’ll go big for him in open primary states, knowing a Mitt nomination guarantees a Tea Party candidate and opening the door for a Baraq win via Clintonian plurality.

Mitt Romney. The GOP’s version of Barack Obama.

Naive? About what? I certainly am not naive enough to sit out an election when a radical Marxist is one of the choices. I will never be that naive.

Nor am I naive enough to squeal and whine when I cannot get 100% of what I what all the time. If the voters in the GOP choose someone not my choice I also won’t act like a RINO and sit at home.

“there’s not a lot that I want to borrow from France and Switzerland.”

Like many Americans, sounds like Mitt is having trouble distinguishing Switzerland and Sweden.

Probably doesn’t know the difference between Danes, Dutch and Deutschland, either.

You’re tougher than me. I was willing to give him a pass if he’d admitted it was a mistake.

Know we know, he is a radical socialist. The battle against socialized medicine is the last stand. He just admitted he’s our enemy.

Elect some new folks with testicles to CONGRESS, some folks who understand that there was a reason the Founders set up the legislature in ARTICLE 1 of the Constitution and the executive BELOW it in Article 2, and it wouldn’t matter if Adolph Hitler — or a clone of Der Furher named Obozo — sat in the White House.

Sadly, we’ve sent so damn many professional office seekers to Congress that, to avoid the unpleasantness and bother of discharging their Constitutional duties to OBEY THE CONSTITUTION AND REPRESENT THE PEOPLE, over time they shipped most of their power to 1600. TIME TO TAKE IT BACK — WHILE WE STILL CAN.

That assumes we still have enough “citizens” here who even KNOW what the Constitution is or what it means to their freedoms. That’s the one that scares hell out of me.
