George W. Bush Gives First Public Reaction to Osama Bin Laden Death

Former President George W. Bush made his first candid public comments on the killing of Osama bin Laden during an appearance Wednesday at a conference of hedge fund managers in Las Vegas.

"I was eating souffle at Rise Restaurant with Laura and two buddies," Bush said when asked what he was doing when he received the call from President Obama, according to an ABC News contributor who attended the event.

"I excused myself and went home to take the call," Bush said. "Obama simply said 'Osama Bin Laden is dead.'"

Bush said Obama described in detail the secret mission to raid bin Laden's Pakistani compound and the decision he made to put the plan into motion. He told Obama, "Good call."

The 43rd president and man who initiated the hunt for bin Laden after the 9/11 attacks has shied from the spotlight since news broke nearly two weeks ago. Bush has declined interview requests and Obama's invitation to join him at Ground Zero to meet with victims' families and first responders four days after the raid.

But appearing before the crowd of 1,800 at the glitzy Bellagio resort and casino, Bush appeared light-h earted and relaxed in talking about bin Laden's death.

What PR wizbang thought it was a good idea to reference “souffle” with Bid Laden’s capture.

Once again, Bush aligns himself with losers. This time a PR flunky.

Your should have said, “Biscuits and gravy.” Now the story is about what he eats rather than the very classy way he has comported himself after his service to the country.

“souffle????”

Same problem he had as president - communication.

Too much detail about unneeded, insignificant crap, not enough of the meat of the message. One, unscripted moment on top of a fire truck was magic, too much of the communication during the remaining time in office was just blather.

Unlike any liberal, Bush would not stop to think up a lie to make himself look good, and simply blurt out the truth.

You know from the left we’ll get a bunch of comments about the food instead of the substance, probably some sort of class warfare comments they are good for. (by the way, you should see some of the souffle’s at Rise No.1. They have a BBQ souffle that you would kill for.)

Bush said U.S. foreign policy needs to continue to promote the ideas of democracy and freedom as a way to combat global terrorism.

Instead of "a way" didn't President Bush say, "THE way?"

President Bush's insistence on showing the muslim world the benefits of freedom is what will win the war.

Other than the fact he isn't a Clinton who cares more about the image of the statement than the honesty, it would be a hard lie to pull off. Rise No.1. pretty much does nothing but souffles- it is their specialty.

Thank you, that sure needed to be said.

I noticed that he praised the intelligence community and Seal Team 6, but "Good call" was about all he could say about Obama.

And rightly so.

Bush doesn't care. He is not trying to get reelected, he is not trying to impress anyone, he is just being himself. I say good for him. I huge problem in our country today is everyone worrying about what someone else thinks well I say screw that, be yourself. If someone doesn't like it they can go pound sand.

“I was eating souffle at Rise Restaurant with Laura and two buddies,” Bush said when asked what he was doing when he received the call from President Obama....”

“President Barack Obama called Bush in Dallas at 9:04 p.m. central time ...”

How about, “I was eating DINNER” or “I was having a late snack.”

Real men don't admit to eating a souffle, or even knowing what one is!

“You can add minced fresh herbs such as chives, chervil, parsley or tarragon to the yolk mixture. You can also add Gruyere cheese finely grated or your cheese of choice. A red wine butter sauce (see recipe below) with shaved fresh truffles is the ultimate option!”

A REAL man always has truffles, Gruyere cheese, and chervil on hand just in case he wants to make a special souffle.

Also, Bush didn't say he was eating a souffle, he said he was eating a soofull.

The funniest thing is, some of these people commenting about what real Texas are supposed to eat are the same people that will come to Texas and want to look like a real Texan.

They will get themselves a big Stetson hat, a pair of roach killers, and wear them with a cheap polyester suite.

Yea buddy, they really look like a real Texan and everybody here in Texas is fooled into believing they are something other than a Prairie Fairy.
