Washington (CNN)-Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani admitted Friday that he can "probably be talked into" a run for the presidency.
While speaking to a group from the Republican National Lawyers Association at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Giuliani asserted that his major goal is for a Republican to be elected as president in 2012.

Watching Giuliani navigate the political process is like watching a horror film festival---Rooty's had more sequels than Bela Lugosi. No matter how many stakes are driven into Rooty's presidential aspirations, the Rudester comes back from the dead, climbs out of his coffin with the same evil smirk, to wreak havoc on our political process again and again. Rooty's got the resilience of Count Dracula and the rap sheet of a calculating conman......not exactly star material for the White House.

PROFITING FROM 9/11 Ever the opportunist, Giuliani engaged in some aspect of " security", an industry, that boomed as a direct result of 9/11. Giuliani Partners capitalized on his 9/11 experiences by specializing in security technologies.
But is he even still working at Giuliani Partners? In 2008 Giuliani’s office was mostly empty as he canvassed the country for money and votes in his presidential bid.
It’s a relevant question, because according to a former top FEC official, drawing a salary from the firm would be a breach of election law: the firm would in effect be making undeclared campaign contributions.
To anyone who has followed Giuliani’s meteoric rise in business, his dodges are not surprising. There are, it seems, at least two Rudolph Giulianis. One is the crusading former U.S. attorney and 9/11-bedecked ex-mayor of New York, cloaked in the six core values prominently featured on Giuliani Partners’ Web site: Integrity. Optimism. Courage. Preparedness. Communication. Accountability.
The other Rudy Giuliani is the one who brazenly built a business on his 9/11 fame. Some of his clients have been large, established companies, such as Aon, the global risk-management firm that lost 175 people in the World Trade Center attack; Entergy, which operates nuclear power plants; and Delta Airlines and U.S. Airways. But a number have been scrappy little penny-stock start-ups, one of them backed by an S.E.C.-disciplined stock swindler.
These are the players who have needed Giuliani most, to promote them, to open doors for them in government or business, or merely to lend them his name, at a very high price, so they can boost their stock or get bought by bigger fish.
In doing business with these companies, Giuliani has sometimes created at least an appearance of poor judgment, or greed, or both. But if the crusading ex–U.S. attorney understands the importance of appearances, the other Rudy Giuliani seems oblivious to them.

Congress had enacted immigration reform laws that forbade local governments from barring employees from cooperating with the INS.
But Mayor Rudy Giuliani filed suit against the federal government in 1997. He was rebuffed by two lower courts, which ruled that the sanctuary order amounted to special treatment for illegal aliens and were nothing more than an unlawful effort to flaunt federal enforcement efforts against illegal aliens. Giuliani would not give up.
In January 2000, the Supreme Court rejected his appeal, but Giuliani vowed to ignore the law. Giuliani would give Mexico veto power over US immigration policy, and would ignore the US Constitution.
The GOP presidential front-runner is Giuliani (as of 2007) , perhaps the only politician on the national scene more ruthless, unprincipled and power-mad than Clinton.
Remember when Giuliani tried to have the New York Legislature declare martial law after 9/11 so that he could stay in power indefinitely?

What the media call Giuliani’s “unconventional” personal life certainly contradicts the party’s support for family values. He had his marriage to his first wife annulled after 14 years after he claimed to discover that they were actually second cousins rather than third cousins.
As the Washington Monthly reported, “Giuliani informed his second wife, Donna Hanover, of his intention to seek a separation in a 2000 press conference. The announcement was precipitated by a tabloid frenzy after Giuliani marched with his then-mistress, Judith Nathan, in New York’s St. Patrick’s Day parade, an acknowledgement of infidelity so audacious that Daily News columnist Jim Dwyer compared it with ‘groping in the window at Macy’s.’”
The worst thing about Rudy: his love of government power. He showed it as a prosecutor, as he hauled supposed white-collar wrongdoers out of their Wall Street offices in handcuffs in front of the TV cameras, and as mayor as he defended even the most egregious abuses of police power, used his power to crack down on trivial offenses (jumping subway turnstiles, jaywalking, loitering).
Giuliani constantly exploits 9/11 and his role in it and has earned tens of millions of dollars giving speeches about that fateful day.
This Giuliani quotation, from a 1994 speech, sums up his philosophy: “Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it.”
How Orwellian. Fascism is Freedom.

I don’t understand the Rudy hate from our side. He’d be no-nonsense, don’t you think ? Gay marriage is the only issue I recall that would be at odds, but a conservative house and senate neuters that issue. Maybe I haven’t been paying close enough attention to Rudy’s policies. Hannity wouldn’t support him if he wasn’t conservative.
Gun control. His opinion about what freedom is. Excessive desire for State.

Giulinain succeeded David Dinkins as NYC mayor. Dinkins was a lousy mayor. Giuliani is credited with cleaning up the city, at least on his watch. And he did. It was a different city. Prior to being mayor, he was a federal prosecutor, most notably going after the mob in the 1980's.
Can’t he run for office in New York. He is more likely to have their beliefs than the nation.

The families of the police and fire rescuers who died in the attack balked at Giuliani's plan to take up to a year to dole out the money, with his new organization billing $2.2 million in anticipated administrative expenses (including six-figure salaries for friends he appointed as officers).
The families argued that the fire union had far more quickly distributed $111 million with an estimated administrative cost of just $30,000.
Under embarrassing pressure from the victims' families Giuliani backed down. He promised to distribute the money within 60 days and fund his overhead from new donations. The families of the deceased rescuers, the real heroes of the September 11 attacks, received a one-time benefit of about $230,000 each from the Giuliani-privatized fund in 2002. That year, the former mayor earned some $8 million in speaking fees alone, more than $650,000 per month.
ROOTY/JOOTY‘S TAX-EXEMPT ACTIVITIES Rooty appointed his then-mistress, Judith Nathan to the "Twin Towers Fund" Board of Directors, Rudy's special little "tax-exempt charity." Rooty referred to Jooty as a "philanthropist." Nathan supposedly had worked as managing director of Changing Our World, a national fund raising and philanthropic services company headquartered in New York.
Late in his tenure as mayor of New York, Rudolph W. Giuliani billed tens of thousands of dollars in travel expenses to little-known city agencies as he was beginning an extramarital affair. The report, on the Politico Web site, cited documents obtained under the New York State Freedom of Information Law. But it was unclear from those documents whether Mr. Giuliani allocated those travel costs, from 1999 through 2001, to obscure city offices in an attempt to conceal expenses associated with the relationship or for some accounting purpose.
The administration of Mr. Giuliani’s successor, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, said in 2002 (several months after taking office), that the Giuliani administration had kept the budget for the mayor’s office artificially low by paying more than $5 million in salaries through other city agencies.
The agencies to which Mr. Giuliani billed the travel expenses were outside the mayor’s office. The New York mayor always travels with a security detail, and the expenses for the police detectives assigned to protect him are normally paid for by the Police Department when he travels on city business. Asked about the travel expenses during the Republican presidential candidates’ debate, Mr. Giuliani denied any wrongdoing. “I have nothing to do with the handling of their records,” he said. As far as he knew, he said, the records were handled appropriately.

Well one good part of your post is that he will not run for President and that is good. I was just saying run for NY seat to get him out of the running for President. I don’t really want him doing either.

I LIKE Rudy...he was the best thing for NYC that came along in around 50 years....
....but he is NOT, repeat NOT presidential timber. His methods are fascist and anti-individual. NYC at the time, I suppose, needed a fascist....and seeing as how the dims had made NYC a cross between Marxism and Fascism already, it was no great shakes to have him clean the city in his own inimitable style.
He is not right for America....period. Let him run for either Putzhead Schumer's or Shrillarie's(now gillibrand's) seat in the Senate...he can only improve the senate in comparison to those two pear-shaped losers.....

There is no doubt that Giuliani was a great mayor, but it’s hard to imagine the grass roots rallying around him. He had a much better shot in 2008 and it didn’t happen.
