SAN JUAN - Hidalgo County Sheriff's deputies are searching for the suspects of a drug stash house. The house was filled with thousands of pounds of marijuana, a shrine devoted to Santa Muerte and an empty box of AK-47 ammunition.
Deputies raided the home off the intersection of Linda and Jardin Street, just north of Highway 495 at 9 p.m. Saturday night.
Inside, they found every room in the home filled with bundles of marijuana. The bundles weighed about 7,000 pounds and filled the beds of five pick-up trucks.
"I'll guarantee you, it'll be several drug trafficking organizations that are going to be hurting on this." said the sheriff.
Sheriff Trevino said several people were living in the home but at the time of the raid the house was empty.
Deputies made a significant discovery when they found a Santa Muerte shrine. A statue of the grim reaper was on display. The sheriff say it is often used to ward of police and protect the smuggler.
"Obviously, it did not work," said Trevino.
During the search of the house, deputies found bricks and metal used to compress the bundles of drugs.
In the backyard, an empty box of AK-47 ammunition was thrown on the floor.
The sheriff says his investigators will work with the DEA as the investigation continues.
but I thought Texas was a drug free state?
I thought our borders were well protected? Perhaps big sis could splain this one?
“In the backyard, an empty box of AK-47 ammunition was thrown on the floor.”
Interesting. Do you South Texans have floors for your backyards? I have grass,,,,, Well, really weeds.
"Obviously, it did not work," said Trevino.
So then where are the smugglers? Nobody got arrested and losing inventory is just a part of the business. Sounds like the shrine worked just fine.
No, drugs are not free, but they don’t cost very much when you move these quantities.
” Sounds like the shrine worked just fine.”
Ditto
Looks like the ammo box is on dirt and grass in the video.
Probably loses something in translation?
Or maybe the floor in the house was dirt?
