Voters are more pessimistic than ever about the possibility of stopping illegal immigration for good in the United States.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters shows that just 35% believe it is possible to end illegal immigration in this country. Forty-seven percent (47%) do not think it is possible to end illegal immigration, while another 19% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The number who think it's possible to end illegal immigration is down from a recent high of 47% in July 2010 and ties the lowest result found in surveys conducted since 2007.
President Obama on Tuesday encouraged Congress to move forward on immigration reform, saying his administration has “strengthened border security beyond what many believed was possible.” But just 30% of Likely U.S. Voters think the U.S. border with Mexico is even somewhat secure, while 64% disagree and say it is not secure.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on May 11-12, 2011 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
Male voters are more confident than female voters that illegal immigration can be stopped. Voters over 50 agree more strongly than those who are younger.
While 51% of Republicans believe it is possible to end illegal immigration, 58% of Democrats and 50% of voters not affiliated with either major political party disagree.
Most Political Class voters (82%) say it’s not possible to totally end illegal immigration. Mainstream voters are evenly divided on the question.
Most voters continue to say as they have for years that securing the border is a higher priority than addressing the status of illegal immigrants already in the United States.
The majority also feel that the policies of the federal government encourage illegal immigration. Yet while voters remain unhappy with the federal government’s efforts to stop or reduce illegal immigration, most voters continue to favor a welcoming policy of legal immigration.
Fifty-nine percent (59%) of voters favor a cutoff of federal funds to so-called sanctuary cities, but only 29% think Congress is even somewhat likely to pass such a measure.
Who are these 23% and how can they be humanely protected from themselves?
Is that the percentage on welfare?
the real question is if 77% feel the gov’t doesn’t have the consent of the people why aren’t we having a rebellion?
CAN we do it?
Yes.
WILL we? Not sure.
Because, honestly, I think ending illegal immigration might require some tactics that even most of us on the right don’t have the stomach for.
A: Because by and large, we've had the American Spirit bred/indoctrinated/shamed (by the Leftist media and pop culture) out of us. We're a nation of sissies, a nation of drones, a nation of slaves, a nation of vegetables, etc.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Deporting all the illegals here would be tougher, especially when so many people would have to get rid of cheap labor, their gardener, etc.
Great. This is what I get for trying to post multiple articles at the same time.
The title should be “Only 35% Say It’s Possible To End Illegal Immigration”. Would a mod be kind enough to correct it? My apologies.
What percent think *polls* are worthless?
67.2% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
umm, hm.
It doesn't matter - the government "presumes" it has 100% consent of the governed.
And these days, presumption is 100% of the law.
Ping!
>> Is that the percentage on welfare?
I doubt that. Freeloaders usually despise the benefactor. I suspect the percentage represents Commies, idiots, and Marxists.
This is why we can not afford to put up a Republican candidate who can not think outside the box and address the real issues that are distribing Americans with proposed reform. That 28% are Obama’s die hard supporters.
Americans are not big government socialists, they are not citizens of the world rather are citizens of this Nation and they expect to have the constitution to be the law of this land.
We are back to playing global policeman with Obama. We have banksters and CEO’s shaking down our Treasury and the President picking winners and losers in business! It feels like global fasism and it just keeps getting more and more abusive.
I hope someone who can talk and who knows and is loyal to America will run for President.
These 23%, presumably Obama voters, are absolute morons.
23% are Holder’s people? 90% of Blacks, fags, scum, freeloading-good for nothing-parasites.
Does this & this qualify me as thinking outside the box?
I'm contemplating running in the 2016 Presidential race.
