LAGUNA HILLS – A man who deputies were attempting to evict from his town home last week shot at officers with a BB gun, striking one in the hand.

((snip))

Rose was found in the living room pointing a black BB gun at deputies, according to the release, which they believed was a firearm. Deputies told Rose to drop the weapon, and when he failed to do so, a deputy shot Rose with an electronic stun gun. Police previously had said Rose was found in a bedroom.

While the stun gun was being used, Rose fired a BB gun and hit one the deputies in the hand. Another deputy then fired two shots at Rose, but did not hit him.

A third deputy used an electronic stun gun a second time to subdue Rose and he was taken into custody, according to the release.

BB guns just don’t pack the punch they used to..

may as well just leave the front and back doors unlocked.

Most LEO’s have been trained to to understand and identify such situations (police assisted suicide).

Most LEO’s have likewise been trained to hit the target when they discharge their gun.

Apparently none got the a+ in class.

I saw a local LEO whom I went to school with faint at a homicide scene. We were playing cards next door, and were going to call a cop to pick up their cop.

Just cant make these things up.

He was Al Hunter. After he blew his wife's head apart all over the hallway, he kidnapped a pilot from Beverly airport and had him fly over Boston so he could shoot at fuel storage tanks.

He was a good guy, VN vet with “issues” who used to buy us beer.

He is also released from custody today.

Strange world.

The wording is unclear. Firing the weapon while he was being tased might have been an involuntary response.
If so, that could account for why tasing was tried in the first place, they knew it was a bb gun but didn’t account for any involuntary jerking on the recipient’s part.
Or he could have fired it before the thing hit, having really fast reflexes and all.
Hard to imagine someone meeting a supposed firearm threat with a taser rather than a firearm. But if so, kudos for their restraint.
For that matter, they seem to have showed some afterward, too. Too bad more don’t do so in these situations (71 shots?).
