A couple of things:

One, there are way too many FReepers who believe that LEO's can do no wrong. But do you have any idea what kind of person becomes a cop in today's environment?

2. Look at the spike in 2009. Who became "pres_ent"? Who was Gov of NM?

My point: the pendulum swings. What we allow a GOP Pres to do unconstitutionally means the next time we have a Marxist loser Prez (which is going to happen) he can do it to0.

Flame away.

No flame here.

I thought about this when the Patriot Act was being debated. I was and still am against it.

I just can not understand why more people don’t realize that the Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights was conceived for the main purpose of protecting the citizens from our government and especially and specifically from the law enforcement agencies.

We should never trust any LEO or the agency for which he works to protect our legal rights.

We must protect our rights by insisting that the Constitution be followed to the letter.

Neither drugs nor terrorism should make one bit of difference in the way the Constitution is interpreted, for it is not about drugs and terrorism. It is all about human nature and the natural desire of those in power to control those not in power.

It’s time to repeal the Patriot Act. There’s nothing patriotic about wiping out constitutional rights.

Its supposed to be used for terrorists. I’d guess about 5 of those 2000 were for something other than terrorism.

Agree 100%. No flames.

If it was okay under Bush, certainly, its ok under Obama.

Right?

Honestly, anyone who thought it was ok under Bush needs to have their head examined. Unconstitutional acts are never ok.

Nope.

PA II should be allowed to die.

LEO had and has all the tools they need to prosecute without turning a law into a device for destruction of US citizens life.

This would be alright with me if I get reciprocal privileges to search the homes of government employees and law enforcement officials.

It's only fair.

This isn’t new, and it’s not from the Patriot Act. It came out of RICO. I don’t think it’s unconstitutional. RICO laws have been pretty well tested by now. They still have to get a warrant, they just don’t have to tell the subject that they were there.

lol. Delayed notice warrants. That’s funny. Sorta like post-coital consent.

This doesn’t add up. They have enough to convince a judge to issue a warrant but just look around and take photos? Doesn’t pass the smell test. A search warrant is for the seizing of evidence.

As I said last night in a similar thread; if this becomes the law of the land, the numbers of LEOs who die in the line of duty is going to grow by leaps and bounds. All the home owner will say is: “Wow, that’s too bad...I thought it was an intruder...” Two can play this game, and it will be Law Enforcement who loses.

This is a horrible error in judgment by the Court. They will be responsible for the increase in LEO deaths. Very sad indeed.

The constitution is stone cold dead.

Here’s how you deal with this...

1. Overt video and audio recording on a UPS.
2. Covert video and audio recording on a UPS with offsite recording.
3. Alarm system with audible alarm on UPS.
4. 4 legged furry land sharks.
5. Good, very good locks.

Catch them at their own game. Expose them to the media and publish the video.

The citizens of New Mexico need to be making a LOT of noise about this.

All branches of government and all levels of government need to be properly checked and balanced.
