And grizzlies run real fast.
Bear is good eating. Especially in a stew.
Don’t hunt the berry bears, they don’t like it and neither do I.
Thanks.
Badly hurt but at least he’s recovering.
It is thrilling, mainly because they can hunt you back. Even large black bears around here can be ornery. I have only hunted them with a .44 handgun and so only ever had two. They can be quite impressive at handshaking distance.
I usually carry one of these when I go out. I get over to Red River Gorge a couple of times a year, but usually go up to Bernheim Forest two or three times a month. There are a couple of bear living back in the research area, but I've never seen one out near any of the trails (although I did have one run across the road in front of me when I was on my way back home last fall).
My main concern out there is the large number of feral pigs that are roaming around. A professional hunter came in a few years ago and culled almost a hundred pigs out of the park, but the numbers have quickly recovered and are as bad or worse than they were before.
Bears are excellent eatin’. Thats the point of hunting bears.
I have a bear stand with blk bear coming in every night, just luv buttered popcorn. I see 10-12 grizz every summer and they always seem to take off pretty quick; mostly along the road.
I've had friends who had bear hanging around and they got to watching when my friend would come and go, no joke. Broke in his house one day when they were away, They had to shoot the bear inside house, bear wouldn't leave; liked our food.
Too many bear around actually.
Agree. Only in self defense should they be killed or relocated if they become pests...If this guy lives, he might want to stick with fishing.
Doesn't seem to be the issue here, as the story said they went out hunting bears in snowmobiles. They were hunting them.
They ought to leave the damn bears alone, unless their invading your home front, as in your case. Different story.
I knew a retired Master Chief who hunted bears the same way. Deer or bird hunting never appealed to him because they couldn’t fight back.
To get a bear with a handgun took a bit more in the way of bravery because if you missed the first time, you might not get a second shot.
Poor wuttle grizzly bear...sniff sniff
Don’t you girls have cats to go stroke rather than high fiving over a near dead potential bear murderer
What would Chet say?....killing bears...the horror?
Spare me...is this a conservative forum or Animal Planet ladies?
Convert that pistol to .460 Rowland and it will be a far better weapon against pigs and bear - 410 ft/# v. 900+ ft #.
Notice how you never hear about an angler being mauled by a fish?
But seriously folks...I’m sure this is part of bear population and habitat control and not a sport. It’s necessary as long as we exist with other species.
Or we could weed out humans instead! Start with libs? LOL
Hunting from snow Mobil, nothing like giving the game a chance.
In the Alaska bush, sometimes the only way to get around.
C’mon up.
PING!
I see you two have never had bear burgers.
One of my fonder childhood memories. Had a neighbor who hunted bears. He’d take the lesser parts, grind them up with some pork and spices then have a neighborhood cookout.
Man, the kids came from blocks around, parents too. All you had to do was grab a couple of slices of bread on your way out the door.
