White House shuts out (Boston) Herald scribe
Boston Herald ^ | May 18, 2011 | Hillary Chabot

Posted on 05/18/2011 3:28:46 AM PDT by Virginia Ridgerunner

The White House Press Office has refused to give the Boston Herald full access to President Obama’s Boston fund-raiser today, in e-mails objecting to the newspaper’s front page placement of a Mitt Romney op-ed, saying pool reporters are chosen based on whether they cover the news “fairly.”

“I tend to consider the degree to which papers have demonstrated to covering the White House regularly and fairly in determining local pool reporters,” White House spokesman Matt Lehrich wrote in response to a Herald request for full access to the presidential visit.

“My point about the op-ed was not that you ran it but that it was the full front page, which excluded any coverage of the visit of a sitting US President to Boston. I think that raises a fair question about whether the paper is unbiased in its coverage of the President’s visits,” Lehrich wrote.

The Boston Herald responds:

Obama off the deep end

What are you afraid of, Mr. President?

I know it must be tough dragging yourself to these glitzy fund-raisers and mingling with rich people who shower you with money and affection. Who needs an unfriendly reporter shouting an unscripted question at you, or checking to see whether any of the guests are getting government contracts?

We all know Obama has an aversion to tough questions. During the campaign, he would refuse to engage with most local media, and reporters who camped out at the rope line got a stern talking-to from a campaign staffer.

But using the White House press pool to possibly punish or reward media based on what the White House considers “fair” coverage? This is taking the control freak thing to new levels.

The First Amendment guarantees that Democrat presidents will always get positive press coverage. The Boston Herald is, apparently, in violation of the First Amendment.

I honestly don’t remember ever reading that he did.

Secondary or pathological narcissism is a pattern of thinking and behaving in adolescence... (I got a bracelet too) and adulthood, which involves infatuation and obsession with one's self to the exclusion of others . It manifests in the chronic pursuit of personal gratification and attention (constant campaign mode) (narcissistic supply), in social dominance and personal ambition, bragging, insensitivity to others, lack of empathy and/or excessive dependence on others to meet his/her responsibilities in daily living and thinking(CZARS,PELOSI'S HEALTH CARE BILL, decision to KILL OBL, deploy troops, react to oil spill,). Pathological narcissism is at the core of the narcissistic personality disorder.

Like so many things that the Narcissist In Chief does, the Media as a whole simply allow to pass without comment. Sure, the Hearald is squawking right now, but in a few months they’ll be back to toeing the line for the ‘rats across the board, as they always do.

I long for the day that the gutless Republicans treat the Media in the same way as the ‘rats. And when they squawk about it indignantly, tell them, “Well, you didn’t seem to care when the last administration did this. We have an established precedent to do this. Why are you angry now?”

There was a liberal who made a documentry about Bush on his quest to become POTUS.
He treated her very fair, answering her questions and even throwing her a birthday party on the bus.
He did get pissed when she reported something that was supposted to be off the record, but he forgave her in time
Bush had his faults, but he was a big enough man to face his enemies, unlike Obama who cowards and bans them.

It is also important to understand the context of the Boston press where the Globe (fish wrap and lead paper) is decidedly liberal. It's not like Obama is not getting positive press in the Bay State. And they are punishing the reporter for an editorial / publisher decision.

I suggest "big, bad president so ready to make a "gutsy call" can't face a reporter with tough questions? wimpy call!!!"

Ah, irony. But, who is surprised? Didn't the Obama campaign do the same sorts of things during the campaign? Wasn't there a TV station in Florida that asked Biden questions he didn't like that experienced some consequences? Since getting into office, didn't the Obama Regime tried to exempt Fox News from pool reporters? How long did it take Obama to submit to an interview with Chris Wallace?
