AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and hes not retiring until every American agrees with him, do NOT doubt him, with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (thats Rush, for those in Rio Linda),the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! Americas anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A Real Man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander in Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to dothats host. Get ready to what you were born to dothats listen (and post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread).
Liz Cheney? ;o)
So, is Rick Perry about to toss his hair into the ring?
He’s moved toward embracing conservatism, but, he has enough of that “compassionate” conservatism bs in him to make me weary.
Rick Perry runs??? OMG!! Rick Perry is okay, but he isn’t my first choice!!
Mark Levin gave props to Rick Perry Monday night.
A perfect ticket... Ann Colter and Michelle Bachman!!! :-)
I did hear the excerpt in question from interview with Gregory, and I heard Gingrich differently than what I had read from others about "what he said," answering a very specific question.
Newt's answers and speeches usually don't fit into the sound bite, and what he says is often, and deliberately, "lost in translation"... e.g., remember "Let Medicare... will wither on the wine"? They have been doing it to Gingrich ever since, and his Republican competitors were only happy to join in, to undermine him.
Newt wants to devolve Medicare from federal program to the states and let each state decide how they want to design the program (possibly, by leaving the federal program only to send block grants to the states, so it's a Medicare in name only). If state wants to implement a program that bankrupts it, with or without individual mandate, that's up to the state's voters. Completely in line with 10th amendment.
I prefer to hear things from the "horse's mouth," not translated by "horses' arses" who have different agenda.
See what Newt has been doing to counteract Alinsky's "community organizers" - Gingrich's Secret Weapon: Newt Inc. - FR / WSJ, 2011 May 15
I prefer someone who actually does implement and advances Reagan's / conservative ideas, rather than hear someone spouting conservative PC slogans (like McCain saying he was a "soldier in Reagan's army" etc. etc.) without any concrete ideas of how to do anything of the kind.
Obviously, you know my bias. ;)
I just want someone who energizes me. After that debacle of a debate in South Carolina, the only person that was on that stage that could come close to waking me up is Herman Cain. It’s frustrating because what seems to happen is we all rush up, dying to grasp the coat of an one issue pony...long winded way to say, I kind of agree with this caller; I want someone with some cojones, who is going to fight. Not very many people who’ve announced willing to do that.
I heard that rumor isn’t true. Maybe someone will persuade Perry to jump in....
The whole horse, known as Newt, was sitting on the couch with Nancy Pelosi.
Just wondering, but if Ron Paul favors legalized prostitution, does that mean that TIME will endorse him since it is just men spreading their seed around?
hang up on her, she is stupid
Now we have a pro-Newt "Tea Party" caller.
Rush continues to dis Daniels. I wonder if it's personal.
Oh dear Lord....If that’s the seed being spread around, I’m reconsidering my pro-life stance.
Reaganism and conservatism are not dead, but anybody who lived through last 20 years can't seriously maintain that we live in the "Era of Reagan".
It's superficial to say that there is no difference between two statements.
Daniels made it personal.
JMHO, with the current media climate, any REAL conservative making a statement of candidacy before Christmas ain’t playing with a full deck.
...and I’m not real sure that there are that many who would be able to stand up to “only” a year of the sh**storm that the libs and (mostly) their media pimps are just straining to unleash.
I’m not so sure that all we’re seeing right now is the Whack-a-Mole part of this election campaign, and we’re just getting the novices and wannabes out of the way.
Newt was better on Greta last night but I’m very, very lukewarm to him.
Where I live, the era of Reagan is alive and well. You mention Reagan, and people recall a true leader. So pllbbbbt on you.
No one is worthy.
Obama wil win in 2012.
Unless Reagan rises from the dead.
Reagan would not be considered viable today.
He made the Fed larger and signed off on an amnesty bill.
I don't know enough about him other than his Wiki page. And I didn't see anything "W-esque" other than he doesn't want a fence. He supports Arizona 1070 and would sign a similar law. I'm keeping my options open at this point.
I hope that’s true.
I'm not, either. Did Newt sell out for votes? Were his principles in fact not strong enough to resist his desire to be approved of by the MSM and Democrats? Did he think he had to abandon principle to make himself electable after the MSM and Democrat character-assassination campaign waged against him in 1996? I don't know.
Our average is 11 inches, but so far this year we've had (according to my rain gauge) exactly 2.68". I'll bet that in 100 years or so, smart Americans will have figured out how to transport excess rain to the places that need it, but I wish they could do it today! Then the midwest wouldn't be drowning and we wouldn't be losing thousands of trees to drought.
I wasn’t saying I wouldn’t support him, eventually. Just that I’m not exactly thrilled he’s considering. Now that pHuckabee is out, pretty much the only absolute “no” I have is Ron Paul. Of course, several would make me hold my nose, and wear a gas mask to stomach voting for them; but down to it, them or Obama, out comes the gas mask.
This also isn’t October 2012. It’s not even October 2011. So I do have the luxury of being leery and can fully vet all who’ve announced; though apparently, there are some people who already think every single person who has a hat in the ring is worthy of backflips and unrelenting joy because they are Republican. Lots of people are really good on one issue. We need more than an “one issue” pony, though, to be successful, imho.
My FRiend, we are living in modern times and the conditions today are no different then they were in the 1980`s. Liberalism is still the enemy of freedom and liberty, and for red blooded conservatives, this is still the Reagan Era. Reagan's Presidency was just one generation ago, ending a short 22 years back. Don't be so shortsighted.
The Reagan agenda was a serious effort in advancing and promoting both the principles and the policies associated with conservatism, republicanism and the Constitution.
Rush's ongoing feud with Newt is simple to understand. In the 1980`s there were many Republicans who embraced Reagan and aligned themselves with his conservative agenda. However, once Reagan was out of office, many of his staunchest supporters began a slow abandonment of conservatism and a return to more moderate and centrist politics. We saw this with GHW Bush and Bob Dole. Since that time we've seen it with many others.
In the 1990`s Newt, along with Dick Armey and Tom Delay, took many of the unsuccessful parts of the Reagan agenda and created the Contract With America. For the first time in 40 years, the GOP controlled Congress. A great success was the 1994 Republican Revolution. That was just 17 years ago.
Sadly, in the last 8-10 years even Newt has begun moving away from successes of Reagan's conservatism. Instead, Newt and others have tried to give a kinder and gentler feel to conservatism. Well, it hasn't worked. In fact, Compassionate Conservatism has been a failure.
Reagan was a big success and for the most part, so were his conservative policies. Those who want to abandon Reagan, are abandoning conservatism.
IIRC, he is close to Governor Palin. I don’t know a ton about Rick Perry, but he’s made comments regarding education and needing a “healthy populace” that make me stop and say...waaaaaaaaait a second. MYOB. lol.
I feel cognitive dissonance when I read things ascribed to him that he supposedly "said" than when I hear his first-hand interview or speech. I can see a thought process that I haven't seen in most Republican politicians, let alone GOP Presidential candidates. I can't be the only one, I hope.
Rush still needs to ask him why he showed up on the couch with Nancy, and why he called the WOT a “silly war” at the Aspen Institute.
AND why he supported Dede Scuzzafuvva, or whatever her name is.
um - rush played newt's words
since you are not listening to rush, you are the one guilty of putting words in rush's mouth
I have said before, a conservative DOES NOT get on a couch with a lounge lizard and agree to eat tripe for breakfast.
I’d vote for RuPaul before I’d vote for 0bama.
THERE I SAID IT!
LOL! Rush talking about Noot and the Couch and Hitlery. His passive aggressive commentary is cracking me up. Now another pro Rick Perry article. LMAO...
He was for her BEFORE he was against her. ;)
Exactly. Newt was not a part of it. See my post #57.
I did find where Rick Perry said that W. was never a fiscal conservative.
Again, not the worst choice, but I think we have better..somewhere; surely? lol
If it’s RuPaul or Obama I think I’ll just pull the lever with my eyes closed and hope a giant fist comes out and punches me so hard I’m completely unconscious for the next four years.
Newt is the type who sees a wave and rides it, conservatism in the Reagan years, eco-nuttery in 2008, and now, progressive conservatism which I think I just coined. He is not sincere.
ROFLMAO! RuPaul will never win the primary so you don’t have to worry.
The libtards fear Newt more than any other candidate SO FAR
They certainly don’t fear “mitt” (in fact they WANT him)
A Newt candidacy would expose Obambi far worse than “mitt” because Newt is a brilliant debater, and he also BALANCED THE BUDGET when he was in Congress (at least started it)
The libtards are doing this to Newt becauase they dont realize how little we want him too. (Not after Scuzzafava) but he STILL is a more brilliant debater than any other candidate SO FAR. (maybe a Master Debater)
They are going all out to destroy him, and too many here are helping the liberal media do it.
I dont want him. I believe Palin/Bachman is an UNBEATABLE TICKET. But I believe he adds a much higher level to the level of debate we would get if only ‘mitt” is the frontrunner (Dear God: PLEASE, No.)
But I still see too many of us still falling for the liberal media slime tactics, and not SEEING IT
Let’s hope that’s true. I live in Paul country, so I’m a little “feared” as we say here. lol.
