Rick Perry Is Not Running for President. Mitch Daniels Is Running for President.
Red State ^ | Erick Erickson

"Conservatives would have to mount a massive, rapid, and high volume effort to get him in. I think such an outpouring of support and requests would draw Perry in. But, to do so, it’d have to be after Daniels and with continued displeasure with the field by conservatives.

One of the sticking points has always been whether the country was ready for another guy from Texas so soon after Bush. With Texas’s economy flourishing and the national economy still imploding, I think the country could get ready for another guy from Texas really quick.

Daniels is running. How conservatives react once Daniels makes it official could have an impact on Perry if conservatives target him for a draft effort."

I don’t want a RINO as the next GOP nominee, but I’m not convinced Daniels is one; I’m aware of his budgetary accomplishments and the bill he signed to end Medicaid funding for abortions. I’ve been confused by the vitriol expressed toward him on FR.

“Policy-wise he’s not necessarily as strong as Pawlenty or Daniels.”

Personally, at this point, I’m leaning Pawlenty. Like many conservative voters....I’m waiting to see what the final choices will be. I don’t know much detailed information on Perry’s policies. I was hoping this would be discussed.

>>> He somehow thinks he speaks for the entire conservative movement.>>>

I’m sure that’s what CNN wants him to think he’s doing, and they no doubt use him as “THE spokesman for conservatives” — and since it’s on CNN, very few conservatives even know he’s doing it.

Doesn’t Daniels have a big Muzzie contingent supporting him?

And today The Hill has some information. The Hill where Juan the crash dummy works.

We have to be ever careful not to respond to anything coming from anyone in our media. Sadly, that includes FNC.

I’m a Texan (7th generation!). I certainly hope Perry does NOT get the nomination.

Here are 3 examples of why:

Trans Texas corridor

Vaccinating 4th grade girls against venereal disease.

Decreeing that all US flags in the state be lowered to honor Ted Kennedy. (This was when I started flying my Gadsten flag.)

There are other examples, but these are the most glaring I can think of at present.

The man is a lifetime politician and certainly not a conservative. He gets some things right, but not enough for me to really support him in any election. I vote for him mainly because he’s not a registered democrat..........

Yes, he mandated that in order for a girl age 12 or above to be allowed back in school, she had to have the gardasil vaccination. He bypassed the legislature in issuing this executive order mandate. There was sufficient outrage that the legislature overrode him on the issue, but he initially decided that he would simply dictate this regardless of the concerns of parents.

As much as people say they want a compromiser in the White House, they want no such thing.

As an example, the last two Presidential elections that the Democrats won was when the Republicans put forward a long time Senator.

Due to the very nature of legislating, there will always be issues of compromise that can be brought up when you have spent any significant amount of time there.

Dole and McCain were both very effective legislators and with that came the skill of compromising. Even Kerry got nailed on the “flip flop” issue on the Democrat side.

Obama didn’t have that long of a legislative record, so it was much harder to paint him as a compromiser as opposed to McCain.

This time, we cannot make the mistake of putting up a legislator to run against a sitting President. It must, absolutely must, be someone with experience as a Governor.

This sadly excludes some very exciting prospects such as Cain and Bachmann. I like both of them, Cain more by a bit, but neither of them can say “I made these tough decisions and let the buck stop with me for the result”.

This narrows the field considerably.
