Another Republican operative said he had spoken with an old friend of Gingrich's in the South who had been planning a fundraiser for the campaign.
There were 18 co-chairs for the event until Gingrich's appearance on "Meet the Press" Sunday, where he labeled Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-Wisc.) proposed budget "radical" and "right-wing social engineering."
"He said like 13 of them dropped off within 24 hours of 'Meet the Press,'"

It’s an IQ test. If you give money to Newt, you fail.
“How stupid is he?”
####
How stupid?
Professor Stupid.
And THAT, is very stupid indeed.
Hannity is also star struck to politicians, musicians and other celebs to the point that he totally misses their liberal or moderate tendencies.
He was so blinded by his love of John Rich (think that’s his name) that he was the last man in America to realize that “Shutting Detroit Down” was the worst possible song to be a tea party anthem.
In with the Bold, Out with the Newt.
The three-marriages/two-divorces reflected that well enough for me.
Yep, that makes four: Muskie, George Romney, Dukakis and Dean. And now most likely Newt, and probably a few others that come close.
Exactly. He clearly demonstrated poor judgment at that time and now claims that he has changed. I accept that people can and do change but in his case I’m inclined to be particularly concerned about behaviors that suggest otherwise. If his assets are 1-2 million that would align with mine and I can’t imagine any circumstance where I would spend that much at Tiffany’s. I bought my daughter a $250 Tiffany bracelet for Christmas one year and felt like that was too much! The comment in the interview that really irked me was the “social engineering” charge. It’s fine to say that people don’t like radical change and they need to be brought along but he can’t explain that crazy charge. He needs to drop out and if his money dries up I’m sure he will.
Professor Stupid.
Weapons Grade Stupid.
There. Fixed it.
Newt + San Fran Nan + Love seat = Done.
Get lost Newt.
I can’t watch or listen to him anymore. He is like a parrot. You can stay away for months and go back and he is saying the exact same thing over and over.
Gary Johnson? You need to have your gaydar looked at.
The remaining may not be supporting him for long if they haven’t dropped out since the initial 13.
Hey Mr Newt, there is a new position open at the IMF.
I agree. I think Newt wishes to propagate ideas which seem exclusively his...such as, “I think right wing social engineering is just as bad as left wing engineering.” This statement was meant to say. “Look at me folks. No one thinks as forwardly as I think. I am the smartest guy in the room. That is why I keep coming up with ideas which no one else his smart enough to put forth.” But he does not hear the sound of the gun going off as he shoots himself in the foot. He thinks if he keeps talking he can extricate himself. By saying what he is saying now, he is calling everyone who heard his comments, dullards and idiots who cannot hear a rather simple conversation, digest it, and come up with conclusions of their own. If he just keeps talking, he thinks the quicksand will not consume him. He does not realize he has consumed himself and needs to go.
Newt is a moral cesspool. Personally and politically. He’s a serial womanizer of Clintonian proportions (his supposed Catholic “conversion” is as false as his smile). He’ll jump on the couch with Pelosi as easily as rattling off conservative talking points. The latest whiplash inducing flipflop on Ryan’s Medicare plan (first it’s “right-wing social engineering”, then he apologizes ONLY to save his political run). The only thing he’s sincere about is his lusts for power and instant gratification.
I think Gingrich is an exemplar of the disease that affects almost all politicans
Apparently the federal lawmaker gig is SO good, that one will do ANYTHING to stay attached to it, even if no longer in elected office per se. We need to make it so that NO ONE can plan for a “career in government”.
The answer: Across the board Term Limits, including appointed postions and marked reform of the lobbying process.
“Government service” should be, at best, a resume builder for ultimate, long-term employment in the private sector.
Very good. Your comments sound reasonable.
Newt forgot to take a good look at what drives the TEA Party : INCUMBENTS!
All professional politicians, the go along to get along crowd who never worked a day in their lives the private sector, qualify.
