Department of Education Starts Award for 'Green' Schools [Al Gore's Green Civil Rights takes root]
Department of Education ^ | April 26, 2011

"The schools taking part in this initiative will help kids connect what they're learning in science class with the world around them, allowing them to envision solutions to tomorrow's challenges while living healthier lives today," said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson. "By making green living a part of everyday learning, Green Ribbon Schools will prepare our children to win the future by leading our global green energy economy."

The Green Ribbon Schools program reflects President Obama's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing energy efficiency, and preparing today's students for jobs in fields that provide clean energy solutions.

Through the Green Ribbon schools program, the Education Department, the EPA, and CEQ will recognize schools for energy conservation, creating healthy learning spaces, and teaching environmental literacy.

"Environmental literacy is an important part of a well-rounded, world-class education," Secretary Duncan said. "Through the Green Ribbon Schools program, we'll be holding up schools that are leading the way in teaching science and in ways that show students the importance of developing clean energy sources and sustainable solutions for the environment."

Criticism of those who point out the truth about the federal government's continued reach and control of U.S. education (NEA) has been swift.

Limbaugh Goes On Tired Rant Denying Climate Science As A "Hoax," A "Fraud," And A "Religion [excerpt] "On the May 17 edition of his radio program, Rush Limbaugh stated: "I kid you not. They're not going to -- they're not going to reward or honor schools for math scores, science scores, or grammar. No, no, no, no. 'Preparing our children to be good environmental citizens is some of the most important work any of us can do,' said the U.S. Education Secretary. Preparing means indoctrinating ... all based on a hoax, all based on a fraud, all based on global warming, which, by the way, is a religion."[end excerpt] video at link.

----

The Algore Left is working to radicalize our youth. Al Gore's new "Power Shift" speaking tour is about students recreating their parents' 60s marches for civil rights -- that students today need to teach their parents.

[excerpt] “I remember when my generation saw the fire hoses being turned on African Americans,” Gore said. “Young people asked their parents in that era, ‘Explain to me again why it’s okay to have legal discrimination on the basis of skin color,’ and when they could not answer that moral question coming straight from the conscience of young people, that’s when the laws began to change.” (This may have been a delicate allusion to the fact that Gore’s father, a Democratic senator from Tennessee, voted against the Civil Rights Act in 1964.)

It’s the same situation now with issues of climate change and environmental protection, Gore said. In effect, parents just don’t understand.

“Don’t they see the evidence?” Gore asked. “Don’t they hear what the scientists are saying? Do they actually believe this line from the large carbon polluters that the scientists are making this up, committing fraud, in order to get research grants?” [end excerpt]

------

Then there is popular culture and its impact on society's thinking:

Paul Watson's new "Whale Wars" commercial repeats (front and center) the mantra he has told his crew of volunteers for years, that they "must be prepared to die" to save the whales.

---

This isn't conservation, this is an assault on our freedoms under the guise of "green," "environmentalism," "Mother Earth" and "good stewardship" of planet Earth, pushed and promoted through the public education/brainwashing of our youth to turn "green" into a civil rights war that they (and I do not believe this is a stretch) should be prepared to die for. "Educators" are radicalizing students and we are paying for it. Children and young adults are being told that their very survival depends on environmental controls espoused by Algore, environmental movements and anti-capitalism activists. Communism has been "officially" sanctioned in U.S. classrooms with Green Schools.

Here are two links teachers are encouraged to use by the U.S. Department of Education and Green Ribbon Schools for Professional Development and Leadership:

Project Learning Tree is an award-winning environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators, parents, and community leaders working with youth from preschool through grade 12.

Project WILD is one of the most widely-used conservation and environmental education programs among educators of students in kindergarten through high school. It is based on the premise that young people and educators have a vital interest in learning about our natural world. A national network of State Wildlife Agency Sponsors ensures that Project WILD is available nationwide --training educators in the many facets of the program. Emphasizing wildlife because of its intrinsic value, Project WILD addresses the need for human beings to develop as responsible citizens of our planet.

The students won’t be able to read an ordinary encyclopedia or do long division, but they’ll know we could run the world on solar panels and windmills, if only those eeeeevil carbon polluters were eliminated.

I actually saw our vaunted USAID organization giving lessons under a tent to poor starving Haitians about “Going Green”. It was insane. They were only there listening to the BS to get the Free Hot Dog.

One wonders where the Education Department will get all that green paint for all those large school buildings.

Just asking.

Kids think if they wear a green shirt, they're doing something.

Ask them to walk to the store...or to school....or to their friends house a half mile away...and you'll find them saying..."are you talking to me??"

The USAID workers were giving out the hot dogs so the Haitians would not eat the tree.

...giving lessons under a tent to poor starving Haitians about “Going Green”...

Exactly. Green is the mantra. They don't care about people dying of malaria or starvation, "Mother Earth" (anti-capitalism = weakening traditionally strong economies and societies) needs to be protected. Poor countries see the scam but they can't fight the Marxists who are controlling and promoting the global debate.

CORRECTION:

"Environmental literacy is an important part of a well-rounded, world-class education, GENERAL DUMBING DOWN OF STUDENTS, PREPARING THE WAY FOR A GLORIOUS NEW THIRD WORLD SOCIALIST DICTATORSHIP"

"Through the Green Ribbon Schools program, we'll be holding up schools that are leading the way in teaching science AGW NONSENSE and in ways that show students the importance of developing clean energy sources THAT ARE LARGELY IMPRACTICAL AT THIS TIME and sustainable solutions for the environment TO INSURE A TOTALITARIAN CONTROL OF THE PEOPLE BY THE STATE."

There. Fixed it.

*It’s the same situation now with issues of climate change and environmental protection, Gore said. In effect, parents just don’t understand.*

Ah, the old “Kids, you are SO much smarter than your parents flattery.” Or perhaps he’s attempting to be “hep” and relate to the kids by paraphrasing the Fresh Prince.
*“Don’t they see the evidence?” Gore asked. “Don’t they hear what the scientists are saying? Do they actually believe this line from the large carbon polluters that the scientists are making this up, committing fraud, in order to get research grants?”*

He had better hope they DON’T see the evidence! Everything that is actually scientific (not to mention common sense) shows that AGW is BS.

Yes, the parents hear what the non-scientists that are receiving grant money for making phony computer models are saying. Yes, parents that read about Climategate know what the grant “scientists” are saying.

Of course they are making it up to get more grant money, they are probably getting leaned on in a “labor union way” too. “You play ball wid us, we play ball wid you. Youse guys still getcher grant money, nobody gets hurt, capice?” No grant money, no shiny car for the nerd that hopes to get a date from a woman like they used to put in the car ads to help sell the car. Why would the carbon polluters be any worse than the carbon profiteers that were selling the carbon credits?

Climate change not a priority in Tallahassee (local govt and univ still care...oink...oink]

[excerpt] …..Four years ago, the newly elected Crist told legislators that global warming is “one of the most important issues that we will face this century.” Crist pledged to “bring together the brightest minds” and “place our state at the forefront of a growing worldwide movement to reduce greenhouse gases.”

….. But Crist’s ardor for battling global warming cooled considerably as the economy collapsed and he mounted a bid for the U.S. Senate. Crist’s successor, Gov. Rick Scott, doesn’t think climate change is real, even though it’s accepted as fact by everyone from NASA to the Army to the Vatican.

“I’ve not been convinced that there’s any man-made climate change,” Scott said last week. “Nothing’s convinced me that there is.”

Now Tallahassee has lost its passion for combatting climate change. Some lawmakers attempted last month to repeal the Florida Climate Protection Act, arguing it was no longer needed. They did pass another bill abolishing the Florida Energy and Climate Commission and handing its duties to Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, suggesting they see the future in ethanol and biofuels, not solar, wind or other alternate fuels.

The shift came as a surprise to commission chair Jim Murley.

…In its two-year lifespan the climate commission did very little about climate change, Murley said. Instead, thanks to an influx of $175 million in federal stimulus funds, it turned into an ATM for energy efficiency projects, which he said is a good legacy if this is the end.

But some of the commission’s grants went to two groups in Florida who do still care about climate change: local government agencies and universities. In fact, as Tallahassee has turned its back on the subject, those two groups have become more active than ever….. [end excerpt]
