In truth, the ideas and images in mens minds are the invisible powers that constantly govern them. - John Locke, English philosopher, physician
The American evangelicals whose frenzied scriptural arithmetic points to the Second Coming of Christ 2,000 years after his birth are engaged in an activity which has been threatening the stability of the Christian Church since the second century; they are trying to align Gods calendar with mans. - Damian Thompson, author, The End of Time
MIDDLE EAST, INDIA, May 19, 2011 I bumped into Harold Camping when I came across his book 1994?
Since he put a question mark at the end of the title I didnt write him off completely because much of what he talks and writes about is certainly found in the Bible.
In fact 1 Thess 5: 2 says, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
But Camping figures its okay to work out the year and the month and in fact goes on and tells us both a month, a day and an hour - he says Jesus' return will probably happen with a massive earthquake around 6pm on May 21, 2011 in which ever part of the world you are!
America is full of 'experts' in every field you can think of and at the age of 89, Camping cannot be denied his expertise in the Bible, which he claims he has researched for most of his life.
He is basically telling people they cannot take the plain meaning of what is said in the Bible to understand the scriptures, but with his God given key he can, while everyone else has misinterpreted when the end times will happen.

My daughter's wedding is Sunday and the rehearsal is Saturday. I hope we can squeeze it in..............
Either way, you’ll be at a wedding feast...
And there’s a asteroid heading your way?..............
Yeah, but I paid for one of them already!...................
What if your airplane flies across the International dateline?............
What time will this hit the midwest? If I’m going to die, I won’t cut the grass, but if not, how long should I wait until I know the end isn’t going to happen tomorrow? I don’t want to cut the grass in the dark, and I can’t do it on Sunday. It’s been raining a lot and I really need to get at it if the world doesn’t end.
Can’t wait to hear Camping’s excuses on May 22nd for why the rapture didn’t happen.
The world cannot end until the Cubs are one strike away from winning the World Series.
He paid more...
If I’m time traveling to, say, 1940...do I get left behind?
Camping is proof that not all the bedbugs are in the bed linens.
What will happen to the folks in the Space Shuttle?
I find it amusing that both Camping, in predicting the Day of the Lord, and Bell, denying the Day,
both are fulfilling end times prophecies of the increase of false prophets.
Better hope your pilot and the ground crew are bad people, otherwise, you’ll be landing that thing yourself...maybe.
“bad people”... amusing, the assumption behind the corollary to this is that all “good people” (whose standard?) will be gone.
