George W. Bush made $15M on speaking circuit
By: Jennifer Epstein May 20, 2011 09:05 AM EDT
Before he left the White House, George W. Bush said he had plans to replenish the ol coffers by making a ridiculous amount of money on the lecture circuit.
Like other recent former presidents, hes done just that.
In the two years since leaving office, Bush has earned an estimated $15 million at $100,000 to $150,000 per speech, the Center for Public Integrity reported Friday. Bushs spokesman, David Sherzer, said the former president has delivered about 140 paid speeches. Sherzer did not immediately respond to POLITICOs request for comment Friday morning.
Earlier this month, Bush turned down an invitation to join President Barack Obama at the World Trade Center for a ceremony marking the killing of Osama bin Laden, with Sherzer telling POLITICO that President Bush appreciated the invite but has chosen in his post-presidency to remain largely out of the spotlight. Former President Bill Clinton also turned down an appearance at the event, citing scheduling conflicts.
The next week, though, Bush was on the lecture circuit and weighed in on bin Ladens death when speaking to a paying audience at a conference for hedge fund managers at a luxurious Las Vegas hotel. He told the crowd there that Obama had made a good call in choosing to carry out the raid on bin Ladens Pakistani compound but said he was not overjoyed by the killing. The remarks became public only a few days later when they were reported by ABC News.

He deserves it.
Same fee as Clinton.
No one is being forced to pay money to hear a former President speak
Unlike Clinton, GWB hasn’t gone offshore and gotten paid to criticize his successor
I know who the media prefers.
But how can the MSM criticize Bush, when Bill Clinton made over $100 million on the speaking circuit after his presidency?
Or, are liberals held to a different standard than conservatives?????
Wanan bet how much he donated to charity..as compared to Clinton and Obama..
Except Politico makes it a headline for Bush and buries it at the end of the article for Clinton. Media bias? What media bias? s/
Of course this didn't interest the liberal media in the least.
Good for him!
Don’t be silly. Who in the world would want to hear from GWB? And who would pay money to hear from him? /s The media will hide this.
God Bless President Bush...he deserves every good thing life can offer and then joy in heaven when he is called home.
I respected his efforts in the WOT. But I for one could never pony over a dollar to hear G.W. Bush call me a “nativist” or “xenophobe” for opposing amnesty for illegals, as he did in a vile SMU speech.
Former President Bill Clinton also turned down an appearance at the event, citing scheduling conflicts.
Was Monica in town again?
What's she weighing in at these days?
Get elected, live like a king the rest of your life! Such a deal!
It’s hilarious to me how the Politico types absolutely exulted over Slick Willie and others from the left making big bucks on the rubber chicken circuit; but let a someone like GW do it and they have an instant case of severe redbutt!
If only we could break that down with a dollar to stutter and/or stammer ratio.
Is politico seriously suggesting that President Bush would have appeared at Ground Zero to help Obama spike the football if only he had been paid to do so? LOL!
LOL. I saw some pictures of her several years ago and she had actually slimed up a bit. The latest ones I saw, it looked like she has porked up again. IIRC, there was mention on FR of her turning 50 this year.
Politico IS the MSM.

Don’t know about her weight, but her age is only 37 yo.

This really bugs me. Clinton and Gore both made $100 Million fortunes being retired pols. Looks like W is on his way. Obama will no doubt set the record.
And how much has BJ Clinton made?
Thanks on the age correction. 50 seemed a bit to old, so that must have been someone else I read about.
to = too
yep, she was 21 and Slick was 49 when she was lighting his cigars!
better than Toon who made his biggest cash influence peddling for unsavories
and Gore who made his with carbon credit flim flam
so he wants to leave a nice estate for his kids and Obama’s Leviathan
he is a Walker after all...they are driven and good for them
I agree.
And, anyway, I am all for people making an honest buck.
You may be right about that.
She was doing more than lighting his cigars.

So that is what the humidor looks like now.
Wonder if the MSM will report about how much money Obama made on the T.A.R.P. and the stimulus deals?,and how much of the money can be traced? so many questions.
Nixon office broke, he would have had nothing if not for a friendly book deal. He was more honest than anyone since Harry Truman left office and lived modestly in his home town without secret service protection.
Bill and Hillary on the other hand bought a house in New York, then built a Secret Service cottage on the property, at tax payer expense. Strangely enough the Secret Service has to pay rent on that cottage, and even stranger still, is the rent is just enough to pay the entire mortgage payment.
Talk about happy coincidences. If you don’t think God is relevant then you have license to steel and lie as much as you want. Oh well the world ends tomorrow so why sweat the small stuff.
Nixon was definitely not the evil fiend that some have made him out to be. I was young when the Watergate scandal was in the news, but the group that I hung with all thought the he got a raw deal. He might have been called Tricky Dick, but he had nowhere near the skills in that department that Clinton had/has. His being forced out of office was a crime in itself. I'll never forget the sad way Pat looked during the whole affair. Awful.
