AFL-CIO: House speaker 'blackmailing' America

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka accused House Speaker John Boehner of blackmailing America for withholding his vote to raise the debt ceiling unless there are drastic spending cuts.

"Now we see Speaker Boehner and his colleagues engaged in a new round of blackmail with a ransom note that reads: 'Cut Medicare, dismantle the government, destroy hundreds of thousands of jobs to fund more tax cuts for the rich, or we will cause the United States to default on its debts'," Trumka said in a speech at the National Press Club on Friday.

Wow, six lies in one sentence. Even for a liberal, that's quite an accomplishment.

Has anyone told Richard "Mongo" Trumka that the AFL-CIO does not run America, and does not speak for Americans?

The left suffers from projection. They always accuse the opposition of doing what they are doing or planning. The left is built on falsehoods, fabrications, and lies.

You don’t get to be head of the AFL-CIO without being a thug and a demagogue.

Unions have become un-American... dump them all, NOW.

He fails to mention that borrowing more to pay for Medicare and useless federal bureaucracies is a brutal economic assault on everyone under 60 years of age, all of whom will ultimately have to pay higher taxes to pay all the interest on our massive federal debt load.

It’s the liberal democrats who are actually blackmailing American into more massive borrowing and spending with the threat of default on our debts if we all don’t pay up for more spending to benefit their key supporters (such as the corrupt AFL-CIO).

Unions are simply a tool to force communism on our country.

So what else would one expect from a union thug?

Trumka getting hot under the collar is a good sign.

And, yes, good suggestion: let him call for a strike of all federal workers. And may several million of them walk off the job.

Then maybe the reality of the situation we’re in will be evident to all.

That will be the last thing he will do as it will be so obvious that we do not need most of them any way.

Who creates jobs and who destroys jobs? Does Trumka really think government and unions create jobs (even though they create iron-clad till-they-die pensioned jobs for union members)? No they destroy economic growth and thereby jobs or else drive away jobs off-shore by their hostile economic climate. It is economic growth spurred by those rich investors and healthy climate created by tax cuts and business-friendly policies at home that creates jobs.

Yep. Then, after everybody is outside, lock all the doors and throw away all the keys.

When tax cuts for the rich come, usually more jobs follow, and I would not complain.

Also “dismantling the government” (at least all the extraneous thingamajigs it has gained over the last hundred years) might not be that horrible a thing.

Unions don’t create squat in the way of jobs. They only carve out more niceties from existing employers, resulting at best in the pie being spread thinner (fewer jobs) or at worst a smaller pie (less to spend on jobs overall, or a collapse or going Galt).
