DC has nothing on Atlanta when it comes to cheating on standardized tests.

It didn’t start yesterday. Many, many years ago if a teacher failed ten percent of his students, he/she would be at risk of losing his/her job. The pretence then was that if one “worked enough,” with a student he/she would get them over the bar. IOW, just dumb down the course enough and one convoy the class though to the next level.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself) The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

"There's a lot of pressure," Mahaley says. "And I believe that most teachers want to do the right thing and sometimes just in the interest of trying to be helpful to children, a teacher may do something that may not be appropriate." Of course, the teachers certainly aren't doing it to save their own pathetic jobs.
