This is a add-on to a FR thread with some new photos. Great to see how some homeownwers were able to cope, with one major failure (last photo).

Thats a great idea, I’m sure the EPA or some such agency is highly disappointed.
These are impressive pictures, and I congratulate the home owners. Going forward, if I were to build in the region, I would start with the mound and build on top of one.

I would kinda like that my house was on an island like the first photo.
The last one tried to protect too much. It would have been better to go up instead of out.
brilliant. some people scream for the federal government. some people crawl into a bulldozer. those that refuse to be helpless are the happier folks by far.
That is my thought too. He was greedy in trying to protect too much. Look at the other homes. They just protected right around their house, and forgot about the rest. The dirt this guy used to make an extra large barrier would have been more than enough to protect his home, if he had done as you said.
Missippy ping for you to see just how resourceful and resilient we are!
Harvard, Yale, Columbia, SUNY, whatever...bah...bet they couldn’t do this with a $100K large and engineers.
