PRESIDENT HARRY S. TRUMAN'S ADDRESS BEFORE A JOINT SESSION OF CONGRESS(Signed into Law May 22)

The gravity of the situation which confronts the world today necessitates my appearance before a joint session of the Congress. The foreign policy and the national security of this country are involved.

One aspect of the present situation, which I wish to present to you at this time for your consideration and decision, concerns Greece and Turkey.

The United States has received from the Greek Government an urgent appeal for financial and economic assistance. Preliminary reports from the American Economic Mission now in Greece and reports from the American Ambassador in Greece corroborate the statement of the Greek Government that assistance is imperative if Greece is to survive as a free nation.

At the present moment in world history nearly every nation must choose between alternative ways of life. The choice is too often not a free one.

One way of life is based upon the will of the majority, and is distinguished by free institutions, representative government, free elections, guarantees of individual liberty, freedom of speech and religion, and freedom from political oppression.

The second way of life is based upon the will of a minority forcibly imposed upon the majority. It relies upon terror and oppression, a controlled press and radio; fixed elections, and the suppression of personal freedoms.

I believe that it must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures.

I believe that we must assist free peoples to work out their own destinies in their own way.

When you read President Truman's autobiography you discover that Truman believed that a President must read and understand HISTORY!

One of the tenets of Communism is that history is a tool to beat the proletariat into submission. You do this by revising history and keeping the underlings stupid.

I somewhat remember the disdain toward “Harry Ass Truman”, by many. Today he would be crucified by his own party as a right-wing radical standing in the way of their progressive-ism and ultimate subjection they plan for American.

Nagisaki and Hiroshima both had large populations of devout Catholics, and they were the only two Japanese cities that were so. There are allegations (on the Net) that Truman, a committed masonic globalist, deliberately chose to bomb them because they were Catholic. My view is that it may have been just coincidence that he chose to bomb those two cities. I’ve tried to find credible evidence of an anti-Catholic bias (other than the fact that he was a 32nd degree mason) on his part but haven’t found any so far (maybe none exists).

Thanks, okie01, my mistake. I should’ve accessed the info that was readily available on the Net. Here’s what I found AFTER posting my speculations about Truman’s choice of targets (duh!): Hiroshima was the primary target of the first nuclear bombing mission on August 6, with Kokura and Nagasaki being alternative targets. August 6 was chosen because clouds had previously obscured the target. Cloud cover did, in fact, prevent the bombing of the primary target, Kokura, on August 9, and so Nagasaki was bombed.
