Paris would back IMF chief if he wants French jail
STAFF WRITER 1:6 HRS

Paris, May 22 (AFP) France would support any request from former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn to serve jail time back home if he is convicted in New York on sex assault charges, the interior minister said today.

Interior Minister Claude Gueant said he was not prejudging the outcome of the sensational court case, in which former presidential hopeful Strauss-Kahn is accused of a May 14 sex attack on a New York hotel chamber maid.

But if Strauss-Kahn is found guilty, and if he himself would rather serve time in a French jail than an American one, Paris would back any transfer request he made to the US authorities, Gueant told Europe 1 radio.

"The convicted party would have to agree and the two countries would have to agree, notably the country that carries out the conviction, which obviously is always very careful about receiving guarantees he would complete his term.

So much for being innocent until proven something...

Ex-IMF chief in new sex claims

Two other employees of the Sofitel Hotel in New York told investigators that Strauss-Kahn made advances during his stay last weekend. Soon after he checked into his suite, he allegedly called the front desk and asked the receptionist to join him for a drink, according to a US news website.

I don’t get it....there are a thousand ad’s in the local newspapers for escorts. He could have easily called up someone....paid $300....and had 30 minutes of activity to make him happy before flying back to France.

I think it’s less the gratification itself than the feeling of impunity-I’m Kuhn, I can do anything I want and get away with it. Having never had (or wanted) that kind of power, I don’t really know, myself. French friends tell me that in France itself, this guy practically got away with murder.

Strauss-Kahn's alleged womanising appears to have been an open secret in French political circles for years. Thierry Saussez, a former adviser to French Pres Sarkozy, said: "All this stupefaction from people is sheer hypocrisy. Everyone in Paris has known for years he had something of a problem. Not many female journalists are prepared to interview him alone these days."

In 2009, the radio satirist Stephane Guillon dedicated his morning comedy slot on France Inter to Strauss-Kahn's "obsession with females". Some commentators suggested his behaviour was a reflection of French culture. In 2000 French writers Vincent Giret and Véronique Le Billon wrote almost presciently in their biography of him: "There is only one thing this famous man has avoided … a fall from grace."

======================================

SOCIALISM AND SEX CRAZED STRAUSS-KAHN Strauss-Kahn was expected to step down as head of the International Monetary Fund and announce his run for president and was expected to easily beat out Socialist contenders for the nom: Francois Hollande, Martine Aubry and Segolene Royal.

If Strauss Kahn does not run, incumbent Sarkozy would likely beat French Socialists candidates who are furiously squabbling among themselves.

France’s hardcore left is not happy with Strauss-Kahn (known to all as DSK). DSK is a millionaire who lives in a €4mn Paris penthouse with a €140,000 Porsche parked outside. He is known for wearing suits costing £22,000 (which he denies).

Strauss-Kahn is lambasted by leftists as a champagne Socialist and establishment fat cat.

France’s sullen anti-business, nti-globalisation left must decide whether it wants ideological purity or a candidate who can beat Sarkozy – who, of course is praying every night that DSK won’t run.

NOTE Dominique Strauss-Kahn was born on 25 April 1949 in the wealthy Paris suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine, Hauts-de-Seine. He is the son of Gilbert Strauss-Kahn, a legal and tax advisor and member of the Grand Orient de France, and Russian/Tunisian journalist Jacqueline Fellus. His family is of mixed Sephardic and Ashkenazic Jewish origin.

It's a never ending fascination to observe new words / concepts entering the public dialogue. Now, we have an "alternate" term for rape? I wonder why?

Some say why didn't he get an escort from the phone book. But he obviously likes women who resist....a rapist's MO. He has done this before and been warned about this type of behavior. That's why he got hustled off to Rikers.....b/c of his history.

=====================================

Strauss Kahn may claim "consent" (or that he was set up) to save his sorry ***...... but the facts beg to differ.

There IS lots of physical evidence---DNA under her fingernails when she scratched him, blood on the bed, a paper trail indicating he had flim-flammed the hotel into thinking he had left.

Luxe hotels handle $3000 a night guests with kid gloves. There's a protocol----the help does not freely enter rooms at will. Apparently maids are not allowed to enter rooms until they are specifically told the guest has departed.

The hotel first sends in a bellman to cart off dishes, empty bottles, and the like BEFORE the maids go in to clean.

The victim had been told by the bellman that the guest had left....and got the OK to enter the room. But when she walked in, DSK was apparently hiding in the bathroom and ran out to attack her when he heard her come in.

From what we now know, it looks like HE set her up for rape.

They hustled him off to Rikers despite a high paid lawyer's plea........b/c he's done this before and had been warned. As was posted above----everyone in Paris has known for years he had something of a problem. Not many female journalists are prepared to interview him alone.

Since when does a rapist who is onvicted in the United States get to choose where he serves his time.?

Another thing, if he were allowed to serve his time in France would the United State be billed for his stay, and would that stay be a $3,000 dollar a night room?

In France these activities are looked at differently than in the US. In France, if a man shoots the guy in the sack with his wife——he gets no punishment-—considered justifiable homicide.

I love how all his ardent defenders in the Gallic press continually refer to poor, out-upon li'l Kahnsie, euphemistically, as "The Great Seducer."

"Seduction," evidently, being one of those words that simply doesn't parse properly, from one language to the next. ;)

"Nice a**e": Strauss-Khan's 'comment to air hostess' just moments before he was arrested for sexual assault

Using the Kahn 'cultural' formula, French doods should be pretty well extinct by now.
