As Ken Hamblin, the Black Avenger, once explained to a caller the justification for shooting a thief over a small television set: It's not what he was stealing, it was that he was stealing.....

never tell the cops you shot to kill. I shot to stop the threat because he said he was going to kill me. I kept shooting until he was stopped.

Yes, by all means we should get the government involved with every aspect of our safety and security. The common man should never ever lift a finger to defend and secure property acquired through gainful employment. It's just not right I tell ya.After all, maybe he was just trying to support his 6 children from his 5 girlfriends or maybe his momma died and they don't get no more welfare check. Now the family has to incur the financial burden of a funeral. We can be so thoughtless at times.

Umm, I think I’d be a little quicker to pull the trigger after that experience as well.

deadly force authorized in defense of an expensive water toy?

No. He 'threatened' the owners ...

Sometimes good men call 911 instead of shooting a property thief.

The problem with that is, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away, providing of course that it was like he said, his family was threatened.

If it truly was just property theft, then yes, I'd agree but did you see where they had already had one bad experience. I believe that would affect his reaction when he had another. Having a gun pulled on you/your wife would no doubt affect you for life.

I agreed until I came to this part “maybe he was trying to support his 6 children from his 5 girlfriends”.

Yeah, right. I don’t think men like this worry about supporting their families, that’s what welfare is for. This is more like needing drug money or money for fancy shoes.

My bet is on the wife shooting them. I know I’d be more apt to pull the trigger once I’d had a gun pulled on me and I feared for my life! Or the kid would be fine but I hope the wife, this could do irreparable damage to the son if he felt forced to pull the trigger.

The fact that they’re not sure WHO pulled the trigger makes me lean towards the son and they are trying to protect him.

Hope mom pulled the trigger.

Be sure to get in your target practice!!!
I agree—
Based on the 2009 robbery where wife had a gun stuck in her face.... I figure she shot and killed this thief. They are lawyered up and being very careful. So we still don’t know whether the mother or son shot the robber.

Due to wife’s (name is Yasmin) previous traumatic armed robbery she will get off on this one as she should

Where’s the /sarc/ tag. I guarantee that there’s nothing on my property that you would want to die for. We have an excess of slime who have no understanding of private property and some of them haven’t been elected to public office yet.

“deadly force authorized in defense of an expensive water toy?”

It is not about the value of the property. What price freedom? As far as I am concerned, you try to rob me of my peace of mind, my freedom, then you should pay with your life, or a least a few years of life if you survive the initial contact.

About 3 decades ago a TX rancher told the biker who was attempting to steal his tractor to get off or he would shoot him. The biker told him to “expletive” himself and suffered the immediate consequences. In TX, deadly force can be used in defense of property to stop a felony.

Not so sure about FL but it should be the law of the land.

I believe that Florida and Texas have similar ‘Castle’ laws... I can shoot any SlOB that attempts to steal my property or invade my ‘Castle’.

I checked it out about six months ago... My only regret is that I didn’t kill the SlOB...

I have had positive feedback from the local law enforcement folks...
