WASHINGTON (AP) --
The Supreme Court on Monday endorsed a court order requiring California to cut its prison population by thousands of inmates to improve health care for those who remain behind bars.
The court said in a 5-4 decision that the reduction is "required by the Constitution" to correct longstanding violations of inmates' rights.
Justice Anthony Kennedy, a California native, wrote the majority opinion, in which he included photos of severe overcrowding. The court's four Democratic appointees joined with Kennedy.

I have an idea. Execute all the murderers and rapists. That should free up some space.

Send them to Mexico...half of them are from there anyway.

I like that idea. I have another one: end all govt benefits to illegal aliens. That would have two benefits: a lot of illegals would leave, and there’d be more money for jails for those who stay.
Send the released crooks to stay with the judges.

Most of them are non-violent drug users. We are wasting money putting them behind bars instead of into rehab. That’s a lot cheaper.

Its only the big criminals helping out the little criminals. The little criminals are let loose to disrupt and degrade Middle class society so it easier for the big criminals to loot and lord over us.

I’m sure the many prisoners, who are incarcerated without due process, will remain behind bars.
They’ll let many of the real criminals out, instead - pedophiles, rapists, pimps, etc.
Perhaps this is an opportunity to demonstrate defiance to the Federal injustice system. Tell them their jurisdiction does not exist in this area and therefore their order is null and void. Do NOT release a signal prisoner.
No prisoner has a right to a conformable prison cell, much less health care services. Prisons in prison are there to serve time in their natural lives, not to have that time artificially extended at great expense to the state. They already own a debt to the State for there crime lets not make that debt higher.
Besides if Mexico can host high population prisons so can we.
We can't even execute those on death row. It's been hung up for years by a judge. More of them have died from natural causes and suicide than by execution. If we stopped adding to that population, it would take nearly 60 years to clear death row by executing one per month.
