Teens Riot In Manhattan Businesses
My Fox NY ^ | 05/24/2011

MYFOXNY.COM - It's like a flash mob gone bad. Security footage from a Manhattan Dunkin' Donuts shows a group of youths climbing on counters, throwing chairs and throwing tables in a violent attack on workers.

It happened at the Dunkin' Donuts on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village. A $2,000 hot chocolate machine was reportedly destroyed in the attack.

Similar attacks have targeted other stores in the neighborhood in the previous weeks.

The video shows one of the teens throwing a chair and then running up to grab a donut.

A few of the attackers also grabbed drinks out of a refrigerator near the door, and they all quickly ran from the store.

Some businesses and even residents recently have complained about violence in the area. Most of the business owners didn't want to give their names for fear of retribution.

One store owner told Fox 5's Lisa Evers that some kids did something similar at his business about a week earlier than the incident at Dunkin' Donuts.

He said, "It's not safe around her."

The NYPD said it was examining the Dunkin' Donuts security footage but has not made any arrests.

In a statement to MyFoxNY.com, NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn's spokesperson, Jamie McShane says, "We will continue to work with the NYPD to make sure Christopher Street is a safe place especially as the weather gets nicer and more people flock to the area."

You’re not going to stop this kind of behavior. NYC residents are not allowed to own guns. If you did shoot one of these skells, you’d have Al Sharpton and his ilk boycotting your business and threatening your livelihood.

The only solution is to make a mass exodus from NYC and let it burn.

Actions like this are increasing and will continue.

When I was a youth, it was called Anarchy and is the norm when the population loses all respect for each other. This is the kind of thing we will be seeing more and more of as this nation descends into oblivion.

This is the kind of thing we ARE seeing more and more of....

until businesses upgrade their camera from those antique low resolution vcr types, this will continue. When they have hd quality video of the perps this will end quickly.

“Baltimore Raven Ray Lewis warning the rest of the World that an NFL lockout would result in an increase in crime figures.”

WOW, what he warned about is already starting, but then he knows about stuff like crime.

Exactly right...I don't know who would ever open a grocery store in Detroit. Very little respect for private property.

I wonder what Hizzoner...."Man-Behind-The-Curtain" Bloomberg has to say about these feral packs of destructive "youths" assaulting employees and damaging these businesses?

We can handily enforce all the new restaurant rules for salt, sugar, and trans-fats--??
-- But can't enforce the law on public decency and personal safety??

Time to lock-n-load ....
No wait...

It's New Yawk:
Where the bulk of your Constitutional rights are subjugated to the daily whims of City Hall...

Ahhh....
Returning to the heady days of Koch & Dinkins...

Cameras don't deter crime.

I agree. I would have made a beeline outta there years ago. Who can afford NY taxes? I also heard that the younger people are leaving for that very reason. Just like Detroit, the socialist democrats are killing the very businesses and areas that support them. And many of the idiots still support them.

The only problem outside of the crime is that the supposed adults, the conservatives will still not breach the protocals of Political Correctness, instead deferring to the sadistic passive-aggressives who enforce the PC.

But if I were in that store with a lit cigar, the ever vigilant NYPD would be on hand to arrest me.

There are now unfortunately streets down near there that I avoid entirely to avoid these "packs." Some people are more free than other people.

I'm speaking to those who clog the streets because the have to get in long lines to pay more for coffee that they could very well make at home for cheaper and thus NOT block traffic. I *HATE* Dunkin Donuts. I hate the fact that they are changing their name slowly to just Dunkin. I regret the fact that Assachusetts has inflicted this plague on everyone else. No offense intended. Buy it in the grocery store and make it at home. It's cheaper and you won't piss me off as I'm trying to drive to work.
