As for Limbaugh, the ego is immense.
As for Hannity, the ego is immense.
And, in one case, perhaps deservedly so.
I believe this.
When I look at O’Reilly, he’s not a conservative. He’s a traditionalist, and he never can really defend anything based on philosophy. He defends based on “This is the tradition.”
For instance, he’s a Catholic but he doesn’t really understand Catholicism. He was against gun rights until Katrina, then he saw people needed to defend against looters. If the police had been able to defend folks, I’m sure he would have no problems with gun grabbing.
I’ve often felt the reason he was so popular is he is TOTALLY average. He’s one of those rare people you run into that just falls into average on everything. So he is tuned into everyone, and average people relate to him.
And he knows how to market it.
You are right. Being #1 on TV is deserving of a big ego.
He lost me when he said to the head of the OathKeepers that the gun confiscations from law abiding citizens during Katrina was perfectly acceptable.
I suppose Harold Camping was a close second
That attitude is how we get stuck with liberal "moderate" "fair and balanced" RINO types.
Brit Hume does occasional commentary on FNC—in fact, he was on last night on what used to be his program, discussing the Republican candidates for President.
I don’t think that’s the one I was referring to...
bill o’reilly’s show is entertainment.
after his talking points, dick morris, karl rove, or laura ingraham,
bill’s probing mind runs his herd of moo cows across the screen.
Bill O’Reilly is a master of judging which way the wind is blowing and going that direction. He never takes any really controversial positions, he just echos the mood of the majority on whatever issue he’s addressing. I’ll give him credit though, he’s smart enough to always leave himself enough wiggle room so he can never be pinned down and can quickly change course if the tide of public opinion swings. I guess it’s easy to be popular and trusted, when you’re just repeating what the majority is thinking.
How ridiculous!
Their 'brand'? That's what they call the fact that no one believes them? What a hoot.
BOR’s a populist, not a conservative. He goes out of his way to dis Republicans and handles democrats with kid-gloves.
Oh and he’s into kinky phone sex and sex toys. (true)
I stopped watching O'Reilly when it became obvious that he thinks "assault weapons" are machineguns, not just semi-automatic rifles with bayonet lugs.
If he is not smart enough to know the limits of his knowledge then he is useless, at least for purposes of restoring our right to keep and bear arms.
