Robbers Attacked As Crowd Defends Woman
One Man Remains In Critical Condition

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Fayetteville police say the tables quickly turned on two would-be purse-snatchers when more than a dozen of the victim's family and friends attacked the suspects.
The Fayetteville Observer reports that two men flashed a handgun and tried to rob Maria Guevara of her purse outside an apartment complex shortly after midnight Monday. That's when 10 to 15 family members and friends rushed to her aid.
Police say one the alleged robbers fired into the crowd, prompting a chase that led to the suspects being captured, beaten, shot, and stabbed.
One of the suspects was treated and released from a local hospital. The other was listed in critical condition Tuesday.

Back in the 70s I witnessed a similar day in Fayetteville while waiting in the Amtrak station on Hay Street (cultural center of Fayetteville). There was a labor/management dispute between the hos and the pimps. This was marked by a lot of threats, curses, fights and violent posturing which was finally broken up by the boys in blue. Reminded me a bit of West Side Story's gang war. Unfortunately, Leonard Bernstein was not there to provide the music.
Must have happened in the parking lot of a Waffle House.

I won a trip to Vegas last year. While trolling the halls of the Hard Rock Casino, I saw a FLASH of someone bolting down a hallway right in front of me. A few seconds later - zoom - someone was running after him. Zing - a second security guard followed.
I eventually got near the location where the original crime occurred. From what I gathered, the idiot perp grabbed a few hundred bucks from a table and ran. One breathless, returning guard said, "Once we hit him with the taser, we really couldn't stop."
The entire room erupted with applause.
According to a book I read on the subject, MS-13 as an “institution” started among Salvadorans in California, although of course they had gangs of various kinds in El Salvador.
Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta, Georgia, told police he observed a male customer, later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta, on surveillance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket. When confronted the man became irate, knocked down an employee, drew a knife and ran for the door.
Outside on the sidewalk were four Marines collecting toys for the “Toys for Tots” program. Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of the Marines, Cpl. Phillip Duggan, in the back; the injury did not appear to be severe.
After Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene Cpl. Duggan was transported for treatment.
“The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs, multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw…injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off of the curb after stabbing the Marine,” according to a police report.
Tut, tut..the salient fact about them is that they are “honor students”..
