The income of Dominique Strauss-Kahn pales in comparison to wife Anne Sinclair's family fortune. Dominique Strauss-Kahn better hope his long-suffering, third wife stands by her man as it's her fortune bankrolling his freedom. The former International Monetary Fund chief is out on a $6 million bail package but only on the condition he pony up for a $200,000-a-month security detail to monitor his every move. That would amount to another $2.4million a year. But the 62-year-old Parisian pol - who was widely expected to become France's next president - is estimated to only be worth $2 million on his own. So despite a $500,000-a-year job setting global economic policy, Strauss-Kahn's life at large is primarily financed by his wife Anne Sinclair's massive family fortune. Built off her grandfather's business repping artistic titans like Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Georges Braque, she's worth an estimated $1 billion. Sinclair, 62, has stood strong in the face of allegations of her husband's serial infidelity in the past - he is known as the "Great Seducer" and the "Hot Rabbit." Her reaction to his May 14 arrest for allegedly trying to rape a hotel chambermaid was no different. She quickly flew to New York to bail him out. Sinclair's steadfastness has left many scratching their heads.
When Sinclair and Strauss-Kahn married in 1991 it was her second time down the aisle and his third. He was a junior minister at the time, and she was one of France's most famous television journalists - the country's equivalent of Barbara Walters. As her husband's political career skyrocketed, Sinclair chose to step down from her TV job so as not to create a conflict of interest.

Perhaps DSK was just repeating the technique that had worked well for him when he was courting his wife.

I have been wondering something since this story came out. Are we supposed to believe that this man sexually assaulted a hotel housekeeper who was just coming in to take out the trash? Do you mean to tell me that he is so disgusting and so bestial as to force this woman to engage in a sexual act that she found revolting? How did he force her? When he came out of the bathroom in his towel, wouldn’t she have just left? The whole story makes no sense. Perhaps I am naive, but are there really high powered people with international reputations who resort to the rape of a public hotel’s cleaning lady when aroused? Are the French ashamed? Too many questions.
And what kept billclinton out of jail.
What kept Barney Frank out of jail.
What keeps Marxine Waters out of jail.

Remember, it was Maria Shriver who jumped to Ahnold’s defense when women accused him of ‘inappropriate behavior.’ Ahnold’s wasn’t, as far as I recall, anywhere near this guy’s league.

Isn’t there a story (rumor) about old man Kennedy (Ole Joe) bringing along Gloria Swanson on some trans-Atlantic trip when he brought Rose and the kids? There’s really little new under the sun (well, except using public employees, I guess).
The story has been reported in many places. Old man Kennedy was a pig with women and a Hitler supporter to boot. That is why FDR recalled him as Ambassador to Britain.

My goodness, ad hominem attacks because I think the maid’s story sounds convoluted.Just because a man has money, does that automatically make him capable of heinous acts? Why didn’t she scream? Did he have a knife to her throat? Perhaps an ice bucket? If this man “forced” a hotel housekeeper to engage in a sex act with him by his sheer will then he truly is a sinister human being. Further...this occurred in the victim's workplace which caters to the elite. Specific instruction is given employees on how to handle “difficult” guests. The victim followed these exactly right.
Get informed..then you won't have to question yourself.
But more importantly she'll stay in this long enough to get her own ducks in a row without raising suspicion she is doing just that. She will protect her own wealth and assets...that takes time to position favorable for her...and protects them from him.
Her sticking by him is probably a factor of whether the daughter is theirs or just hers or just his. Kids make a huge difference.
How old is the daughter? Seems to me she’s not a child and could well do on her own if not already, regardless of the parents slitting up at a later date. Especially since both have been married before, so this would not be new to the daughter.
No idea how old the daughter is .. pretty sure she’s an adult. As I recall, it was claimed he had lunch with her the day of the crime. Still, a LOT of couples stay together even after their last kid has left the home. Of course, this is not your typical couple in any way. And they certainly are not the ‘little people.’
That claim is highly suspect by the authorities as untrue. Though the family may attempt to use this early in the investigation, as they have done, in order to use the courts time later and gain some leverage over the evidence which is so compelling that he did the dead. Last I knew the defense is going to say it was consensual...thus agreeing it happened but blaming the victim...Old story used over ages...some things never change!
my fav defense “trial balloon” was saying the victim was “too ugly” for this pillar of the community to so much as bother with, much less assault. That one didn’t last long, either.

My new son-in-law’s family is French, and the total opposite of the stereotype. Industrious, conservative, actual practicing Catholics, highly moral, polite, sweet almost to a fault. His father fulfilled a life-long dream in emigrating from France to the US nearly 30 years ago, gave a touching speech at a 7/4 gathering last year about what America offers. Just exactly what we want here.
I fear the problem with France and most of Europe is the Brain Drain suffered when the best of them came to the US over the past couple hundred years. Mabe we can send Ayers, et al. back to their European roots where they can be more comfortable.
Sounds like you have a womderful family. I have French family and friends in France, just as you describe. They are all conservatives, very traditional people who never vote Socialist and love America.

It is not a case of not being informed, rather this crime scenario does not seem right to me. It seems funny but do you always believe the authorities in these situations? Or are you automatically prejudicial against the alleged perpetrator because he is rich or powerful? Police investigations, and grand juries are not always completely accurate. This man may indeed be guilty as charged, but then again he may not be solely at fault.
Well, you are going to form your own conclusions based ,apparently, on your feelings that ‘something isn’t right’..... I prefer to analyze the whole picture with as much evidence as are available.
To begin with the guy is married...no doubt something sexual happened as he’s planning on saying they both agreed to the encounter. That makes him ‘guilty’ of adultery before this thing gets off the ground. If he’ll deceive and lie to those closest and most significant to him..he’ll surely lie to save his skin from jail time. Not to mention the guy’s walked this walk before.
Again, the evidence their was an “attack” soes appear to be overwhelming and thus his stance to say she agreed to the encounter. Old story...same lines heard many times before by those quilty of such crime. The clencher wil be how the attorneys play out the happening....not if he’s guilty or not...as most attorneys fight to win, not for justice.
To get her financial ducks in a row. Takes time, standing by your man gives that time....then she'll bail out of the relationship. Unless he has something to hang over her head.
