America now has a gay-rights majority. Gallup reports that for the first time ever, most people -- 53 percent -- favor legalizing same-sex marriage. That's up from 27 percent just 15 years ago. The nation has moved, and it's not going back.
It's nice to think that in a democracy, public policy will soon follow public opinion, with same-sex marriage becoming the norm, not the exception. But that's not how democracy works in a big, diverse federal system. On this emotional issue, the citizenry is divided, and marriage laws as well as politics will reflect that division for a long time to come.
The good news is that changing sentiments have already begun to alter the traditional conception of wedlock. Five states and the District of Columbia now allow gay marriage. Another 13 offer civil unions or domestic partnerships with some or all the benefits of marriage, according to Lambda Legal.
But the resistance is still strong and broad-based. The recent jump in support for same-sex marriage, Gallup notes, came entirely from Democrats and independents. Among Democrats, support now stands at 69 percent, with 59 percent of independents agreeing.
Republicans have not changed their minds. Only 28 percent are in favor -- the same as last year.
Realistic conservatives can't expect to prevail in the long-term battle for hearts and minds. Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family, recently said, "We're losing on that one, especially among the 20- and 30-somethings: 65 to 70 percent of them favor same-sex marriage. ... We've probably lost that."

In 2008, Obama swore he was not for same sex marriage---but he has done everything possible to promote the homo agenda.
We need to get the word out that Obama appointed Kevin Jennings, founder of the pro-homosexual GLSEN organization, "to oversee the nation's safe schools" program. Jennings was involved in the 2000 "Fistgate" scandal in which homosexual adults at a GLSEN youth workshop "guided young teens on how to engage in sexual perversions, including the violent gay practice known as "fisting," (Excerpt) Read more at wnd.com .........
Obama gave Jennings $410 million for his dirty work in the 2011 federal budget ON TOP of $400 million in 2010. Jennings just announced he was leaving the Obama admin (he can retire with riches beyond imagination).
CIRCA 2009 A coalition of Christian organizations launched an effort to have him removed, asserting that Kevin Jennings is one of the most vitriolic anti-Christian activists in America. Jennings is known for his prolific use of obscenities to describe Christians. Jenning will apparently advance Barack Obama's anti-Christian homosexual agenda.
The shocking Jennings appointment is another flagrant example of Obama saying one thing and doing another---and flaunting it, as well. Candidate Obama catered to Black Churchgoers who voted for him thinking he would uphold their strong views against same-sex marriage. Obama ran on a platform against same sex marriage and has given the impression that, as president, he will do nothing to advance same sex marriage.
This calculated move serves to make Black Churchgoers complacent while giving Obama leeway to advance the homosexualist agenda in other ways.
OCTOBER 2009 President Obama received a warm welcome at the annual dinner of the homosexual support group Human Rights Campaign, promising to sign hate crimes legislation, to repeal both "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and the "Defense of Marriage Act." and to continue supporting his besieged appointments as "safe schools czar" and head of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
WND revelations about Kevin Jennings, the safe schools czar, and Chai Feldblum, his EEOC nominee, have resulted in criticism in Congress and from group's concerned about past actions and statements.
53 members of Congress demanded that Obama dismiss Jennings following WND disclosures about his past, including an incident in which he counseled a 15-year-old student to keep quiet about being seduced by an older man. WND disclosures that Feldblum proclaimed "gay sex is morally good" have also made her a target for criticism.
"I'm here with a simple message: I'm here with you in that fight," Obama told the homosexual activist group. "For even as we face extraordinary challenges as a nation, we cannot and we will not put aside issues of basic equality. I greatly appreciate the support I've received from many in this room. I also appreciate that many of you don't believe that progress has come fast enough. I want to be honest about that. Because it's important to be honest amongst friends."
Obama made a direct reference to his besieged appointees without naming them. "Nobody in America should be fired because they're gay, despite doing a great job and meeting their responsibilities," he said. "It's not fair, it's not right, we're going to put a stop to it. Read more at wnd.com

"When I wake in the morning, I wait on the Lord, and I ask Him to give me the strength to do right by our country and its people," Obama said. "And when I go to bed at night, I wait on the Lord, and I ask Him to forgive me my sins, and look after my family and the American people, and make me an instrument of His will." more at Wash/Ex.com
LAST YEAR'S OFFICIAL DNC POSTER
THIS YEAR'S OFFICIAL DNC POSTER
"Voters, Obama is baptized in the fire of faith."
"Obama's been saved. Thank you, Jesus."
"Voters, let's hear an Alleluia and an Amen."
Also watch Obama keep channeling Reagan (the man he invoked to dupe 2008 voters). Like Reagan, Obama's moved the country decidedly to the right. But Ohaha did it by blanketing voters with his destructive anti-America liberal policies.
Jim Daly doesn't speak for me, and he most certainly doesn't surrender for me. Especially concerning the preservation of the fundamental organizational, governmental, and economic unit of our nation and civilization, the natural family.
The poll numbers are completely bogus anyway.
Divided Highway -—> Split Tail
I dunno, somebody else who saw this came up with the correlation...
Just throwing it out there for consumption...
Which of course is why this wins each time it is on the ballot...
"Realistic conservatives"? Nah. They're corrupt, short-sighted unto blindness, defeatist, fake conservatives.
For the best summary of the facts of this issue on the web see www.faithfacts.org then Christianity and the Culture, then the Gay Rights article.
The poll numbers are completely bogus anyway.
I’ll bet they never poll the Southern states on this issue. And, I feel dejected because I have never been polled.
I don’t believe that 53% to begin with. Articles like this are just designed to get American’s to surrender to this wickedness.
Resist the enemies of civilization—New World Order, Muhammadans, feminists, and “gays”—to the end!!!!
It’s the NWO (especially Soros “Open Society”) that is behind “gay rights”, including those bogus polls. Soros and the EU are using the “gay” issue to destroy Serbia, too.
Serbian Orthodox heroes who resisted the “gay” parades now sit in prison (thanks to their quisling government), while no American even utters a bleat of protest to these vile events! June is coming—soon it will be “gay pride week” in your city, wherever you live!!!!
Absolutely. Townhall editors should be ashamed for publishing it.
Steve Chapman is a columnist and editorial writer for the Chicago Tribune
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Here is a link to an article by the same writer in which he shills for homosexual adoptions.
It’s interesting that States continue to pass DOMA laws preventing same-sex marriage. Polls are bogus. It really needs to go to the SCOTUS for a ruling. Our country will stand or fall morally on this issue.
Yes, isn’t it interesting how the definition of “realist” is “one who turns his back on what he knows to be true, just because others have already done so”?
The first of the Air Force Core Values is: Integrity First. Without integrity, nothing else one does means squat.
On Special Rights for Gays, Divided Highway Ahead
Now that's something I can salute!
As soon as they think they have the votes they will be screaming for the amendment process/popular repeal of ant-”gay marriage” laws. It’s already been very close in some “liberal” states in the past few years, can’t see it improving in the right direction in the next 20.
On the other hand, I can tell you that here in the ritzy Virginia suburbs, we are losing the younger generation on this issue.
Fundamentally, this is a failure of the church to fight for this important social issue.
And after same-sex marriage becomes legal (as it will become if present trends continue), I predict that polygamy will be next.
In every poll that matters, the public votes overwhelmingly against homosexual “marriage,” even in California.
Poor Steve, it’s terribly sad that he can’t “marry” his little friend, even though Gallup has produced a poll saying all the fans of “Glee” think they should allow it.
“In every poll that matters, the public votes overwhelmingly against homosexual marriage, even in California.”
Prop 8 in California passed with 52% in 2008, while most polls showed it would fail. Maine repealed “gay marriage” legislation by similar numbers last year. Oregon passed an amendment with 57% of the vote in 2004. I think the biggest margin was 86% for Mississippi also in 2004.
I think it might still pass everywhere, even lib states, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it didn’t in some states, either. In 20 years, though?
You might say he has become a semiprofessional well-poisoner.
Earlier Chapman spew on Townhall commented on here, in this November, 2008 FR thread:
In the 2008 story, Chapman waxed liberal heart-stringy as he contemplated the desolation of children not being adopted by perverts in Florida, appealing predictably to the towering magisterium </sarc> of the infamous Division 44 of the American Psychological Association ..... which probably needs to change its name to "the American Gropological Society" or something like that. FReepers had a somewhat different take from Chapman's, but the point is, there he was, and here he is again, flogging his deviant spew on Townhall.

Don't they mean, "Hershey Highway"?
Regardless, a poll that at its premise is flawed is irrelevant. There are no 'gay' beings let alone are there 'gay' being being denied rights. We discuss here homosexual sex and those who want special rights premised upon engaging in homosexual sex.
The perverts may be able to choose do any number of stupid and self destructive activities; however, society dose not have to accept them as normal, recognize them as equivalent, place any value in them, nor subsidize them.
Steve Chapman appears to be another leftist mouthpiece.
L/E might consider:
(a) conspiracy to defraud the IRS (stolen money is taxable),
(b) international money laundering,
(c) conspiracy to commit money laundering, and,
(d) aiding and abetting the preparation of false federal/state income tax returns,
(e) evading US banking laws.
Authorities might examine federal documents to verify falsifications (a felony); bogus allocations to gay groups (kickbacks); multiple conspiracies and transfers of funds as part of a money-laundering conspiracy.
Government audits might show off-the-books bank accounts that were accessed solely by insiders, and that government-funds were used in various illegal schemes that might have integrated:
(1) money laundering,
(2) tax evasion (stolen money is taxable),
(3) violations of US banking and currency laws,
(4) conspiracy to commit wire fraud,
(5) commercial bribery in various financial schemes,
(6) establishing secret offshore bank accounts outside the purview of the IRS and US banking laws,
(7) fraudulent and casual accounting practices,
(8) non-existent financial oversight,
(9) Having a hidden financial interest in companies faking business with Jennings,
(10) Putting phantom employees on the payroll (money laundering).
Other crimes might include forgery, extortion, healthcare fraud, govt fraud and electronic/postal fraud, falsifying documents, making false statements to government officials, and concealment of facts on government documents.
Was the Safe Schools Office using the Madoff MO: establishing a super-secret labyrinth of interrelated international funds, institutions and financial entities of almost unparalleled complexity and breadth......with assets and businesses in multiple places overseas that hid thievery, money laundering and tax evasion.
Jennings might have been running simultaneous scams using govt funds:
(1) a tax evasion scheme for his gay buddies;
(2) a money-laundering scam;
(3) a protection racket for gay groups,
(4) aiding and abetting tax-exempt Gay foundations to evade US banking laws and the IRS.
(5) hiding govt money offshore, some of which was used for campaign donations (FEC fraud).

"Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."
"I thank God that I have lived to see my country independent and free. She may long enjoy her independence and freedom if she will. It depends on her virtue."
"The sum of all is, if we would most truly enjoy the gift of Heaven, let us become a virtuous people; then shall we both deserve and enjoy it. While, on the other hand, if we are universally vicious and debauched in our manners, thought the form of our Constitution carries the face of the most exalted freedom, we shall in reality be the most abject slaves."
"But neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. He therefore is the truest friend to the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who, so far as his power and influence extend, will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man."
I would seriously wonder what questions were asked here: I don’t care that some same-sex couple is having some wedding reception in some random part of America: I could really, honestly care less about it. In that sense, I do not care. What I do care about is whether or not you are required to bend some knee, figuratively speaking, whenever someone has to profess their sexuality. Or whether or not your public funding status is relevant to the whole matter. I also don’t care or obssess over whether or not someone is a practicing homosexual, in fact loads of them are more perhaps more worried about it than I am.
I agree that I will work the legal fight as best I can, and work to make sure conditions aren’t all so harsh for religions in America, without surrendering. But I am with you on the feeling that none of us need to surrender, in fact, we should remember bringing America to what makes it great: the fact that people, including even sexual deviants, actually can live a comparably peaceful and prosperous life here compared to elsewhere in the world.
I thought the appropriate highway sign was “Do Not Enter/You Are Going Wrong Way”.
