Did my best to see if this was already posed. If so, my apologies.

Really sad when such an obvious state’s rights issue must go all the way to the supreme court. Such a blatantly illegal attack on Arizona should have been tossed out of any county court in the country. Holder deserves 20 years for this phony attack on US citizens.

Yes, it is hard to believe. Here is the narrative:

Arizona passed the Legal Arizona Workers Act in 2007, allowing the state to suspend the licenses of businesses that "intentionally or knowingly" violate work-eligibility verification requirements. Companies would be required under that law to use E-Verify, a federal database to check the documentation of current and prospective employees. That database had been created by Congress as a voluntary, discretionary resource.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce filed a lawsuit against the state, arguing that federal law prohibits Arizona and other states from making E-Verify use mandatory. The group was supported by a variety of civil rights and immigration rights groups. The state countered that its broad licensing authority gives it the right to monitor businesses within its jurisdiction.

The Supreme Court simply upheld the right of the state to mandate the use of E-verify. It's unbelievable the lengths to which these "rights" groups will go to enable illegals to work here without going through the legal documentation process. What about the U.S.'s right to sovereignty and border enforcement?

High court backs Arizona immigration law that punishes businesses

So the Obama administration was FOR allowing illegal aliens to violate laws prohibiting them from working? Not surprised.

Yes, but it's not just Obama! Businesses like cheap, obedient labor!

"The U.S. Chamber of Commerce filed a lawsuit against the state".

It's US, the hoi polloi, who are getting screwed by both sides on this issue!

But Arizona is still faced with some jurisdictions that will prosecute and those that will not. Tucson is questionable for sure.

This is good, but remember that there is a political wing that thinks while it's good for business to be raked over the coals for hiring illegals it is bad for government social services to be prevented from giving tax subsidies to illegals.

It is good for business to be raked over the coals for hiring illegals. It is far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far better, however, for government social services to be prevented from helping illegals.

In fact I will be so bold as to say that we can probably survive as a nation with business ignoring our immigration laws.

We cannot survive as a nation with our governments subsidizing illegal immigration -- and being PREVENTED from enforcing our immigration laws.

This has obvious application to Pennsylvania.

Others have posted that the plaintiff is the US Chamber of Commerce, i.e. people who have a vested interest in making sure that businesses can freely get cheap, illegal alien labor without fear of being fined or losing their business license.
