Chris Christie: Global Warming Real, Govt Efforts Flawed
Newsmax ^ | Thursday, 26 May 2011 | Newsmax

Chris Christie says global warming is real. It’s just the very man-made government programs to correct its effects that are bloated and flawed.

The Republican New Jersey governor launched into an explanation Thursday for why he’s bowing out of a landmark regional cap-and-trade program for power plants, according to Politico, but he first strapped on his layman scientist’s cap to give a brief overview of what’s widely considered accepted climate science.

His decision to leave the program, known as the RGGI, drew quick praise from conservative groups, including the Koch brothers’ Americans for Prosperity, that have long lobbied him to abandon the RGGI ship.

“In the past I’ve always said that climate change is real and it’s impacting our state,”

Saving face.

Can’t quite admit the entire scheme is a scam.

Relentless radio ads demanding he take NJ out of the consortium has forced his hand.

RE: Chris Christie says global warming is real

The earth has been warming and cooling alternately for centuries. What part of the cycle are we in right now Mr. Christie?

And even if you could answer that question, is there a dam thing you can I can do about it?

I listen to American Family Radio talk a good deal, and yesterday the was a gentleman on one of their shows that had many credentials in a number of fields. He thoroughly destroyed the idea of human influenced global warming. I could not begin to relate just what all he had to say, but they archive their shows, so you may look around and find it.

I think he’s probably equivocating his remarks just to get the NJ press off his back. That’s not to say if he were running for governor of Oklahoma he’d turn into Jim Inhofe on the issue, but he’s doing this now to send us a message of where he stands on C&T. I think he’s running.

Besides, I could believe that humans are having SOME impact on the climate, but to say we’re driving the different climate conditions is patently absurd. Even more absurd is the idea that some politicians can craft a scheme that can actually change the climate.

He needs to be asked, point blank, if human carbon emissions are the cause of climate change.

Then, follow up with

“how can a contributor that is 0.117% of the total greenhouse effect be changed to have any significant impact on the whole greenhouse effect?”

There is a lot of pollution, and I would prefer not to be poisoned. I suppose I could call my self an enviromentalist because I don’t want to be poisoned.

I don’t believe in Global Warming at all. I just don’t care.

When someone tells me how WE melted the ice cap that used to be right on top of where I’m at right now, I might start thinking about it.

All this talk about “global warming” gives polluters an excuse, and the government accepts that excuse.

Goretex jackets are made from teflon. Teflon poisons people as part of the manufacturing process with a man made chemical which stays in the body for years.

Goretex believes that, although they are poisoning you, it’s still a “green” product, because their garment doesn’t have to be washed as often, and lasts longer.

I don’t care at all about how warm or cold the planet is. If you’re going to buy waterfront property, buy it on a hill.

I don’t care about how much energy anyone uses.

I do want Natural products, and not Toxic Chemicals.

Obama is very weak on the environment (new GMOs from Monsanto approved during Obama), and a Green Party nominee could do quite well, and quite well for the Republicans, in 2012. There should be a Green Party candidate.

I am from New Jersey and have tried at different times to warn others that Christie is not a conservative. I am very grateful that he is squashing this insane cap and trade scheme but he continually takes left-wing positions such as the absurd claim that he makes here.

Christie obviously believes that man-made global warming is effecting New Jersey. How?

He is full of it. Maybe we could spend another 4 million in tax payer dollars here to study cow farts at Rutgers while real people here in New Jersey are suffering due to the high taxes and unfriendly business environment.

I don’t know if Christie is the greenest, but I do think that he is the most uninformed on the science of global warming (or lack of it).

I have to agree with him on the ban on construction of new coal fired power plants, but not because of global warming, but because they are just plain dirty and unhealthful. There is no reason to burn coal if we can burn natural gas.

Anyone who visited London, back in the nineties, will remember seeing all the cyclists wearing disposable masks to keep the coal dust out of their lungs and hearing the story of why there are so many buildings in London that are painted “Magnolia” white. It’s because some wealthy man, who was tired of seeing the blackened fronts of buildings (from the coal dust) around London, left his fortune to the city to paint buildings Magnolia white, once every ten years. If you want a different color, you have to buy the paint yourself.

Sounds like he was swamped with local enviro propaganda - "90% of scientists believe in G.W."???..I thought it was fairly evenly split, but not 90%.

He needs to talk to Inhofe.

Regardless of what he said, he did the right thing.

If he runs, I'd want to hear his environmental and energy policy before condemning him.

This is just another reason the GOP is a mess. The party can’t effectively attack Obama when it is easy and can be done. even two of the big name tea party people elected, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, are a mess. Rubio supports amnesty and Rand is all over the map like not voting for Paul Ryan’s plan or supporting the Patriot Act. Then you have Col. West voting against piecemeal repeal of Health Care. Regardless of West’s reasons, it is making people like me confused, confounded and unsure of whom to trust.

It was only a mattrt of time before Christie showed his real colors.

The good news is that it came sooner than later. Tea Party conservatives control this next election cycle. They will not support this guy if the RINOs try to run him.

Despite all that’s been written exposing the global warming scam, Christie cannot accept it because of the rigidity of his idiology. What really galls me is that the man believes in the gullibility of the majority of voters.

Buh bye Mr. Christie.

So why isn’t he supporting the cap and trade program? Does he not have the courage of his convictions?

His story is that the regional cap and trade program as it exists does not work. However he signed a bill to tax payer $$ to subsidize off shre windmills:

"The act mandates a percentage of electrical power sold in New Jersey eventually be generated by offshore windmills, and offers a mix of financial assistance and $100 million in tax credits to lure companies to build the turbines in Paulsboro and get the project underway."

"A few months ago, I was at the Jersey Shore talking about my renewed feeling regarding no offshore drilling in New Jersey and also that I did not want liquefied natural gas off the state of New Jersey’s coast, either," said Christie."

Normally, I don’t discount or write off a candidate based on a few off the conservative track beliefs, but this one is a big one that impacts how our country is going to be able to operate and grow our economy in the future. If he believes that global warming is real, that is, caused by man, and not just a sun/earth phenomenon that goes through cycles that cover generations at a time, there is a problem with that because of it’s reach into our pockets and limits to our freedoms..... He needs to be educated I think....
