Delaware Park has always brought fun and joy for Suzanne Matheson and Matthew Mitchell and their 3-year-old son, Jamie.
Monday, it brought shock and sadness.
"Needless destruction," she said of the damage vandals had wrought.
The damage came at the hands of a group of more than 100 teenagers and young adults who went on a destructive spree Saturday night, according to officials from Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy. They were joined Monday by law enforcement and some members of the Common Council to denounce the acts and to ask the public's help.
Barba said he will beef up night time patrols at the park and work with experts from the department's graffiti task force to identify tags. The park detail already in place will do more walking and bike patrols.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Buffalo police tip line at 847-2255.

D*mn Amish and their Clip-Clop culture!
I see no reference in the story to the race of the perps. Perhaps you have more information than the story?
Do they have Amish in Buffalo?
the related column states that it was clean-cut white collage-aged kids, boys and girls. Probably a facebook organized event.
I love folks like you who make every decision based on race.
OK I am sick of being ‘poltically correct’
This was a bunch of black people who live and behave like animals. That whole area is like that- I live 5 miles from this place. It is a filthy disgusting hell-hole.
This is what years of welfare give you. Lazy, drug-addled, filthy disgusting pigs.
But the area has a surprising number of Cadillac Escalades
Don’t call me a racist- the truth is the truth.
I realized that the race of the vandals wasn't mentioned in the article either, and unless you read the column, you wouldn't know. There is no judgment call by me either way. Pick a fight with someone else.
I’ve long felt that the “Michael Fay treatment” would put an end to a lot of this kind of sh!t among teenagers.
I think your post was misdirected. It was the posts above his that speculated as to race, not his.
Whew...headline nearly gave me a heart attack. Thought they were talking about the racetrack in Delaware.
hold on hold on...
you gotta get used to that if you are going to post to an article.
I was not commenting about you, I was commenting about the article and the vandalism, as someone who lives near this place
Nothing I said was directed at you personally
Remember the hysteria over that ? Oh, how dare Singapore do that to that poor lil baby ! Well, Singapore has its act together. We, on the other hand, don’t.
Do you need more information? Duh....
I had no idea that there was an age requirement for making collages.
Live and learn, I guess.
Yes. It’s a slow process, including a time of hanging and smoking. Like tobacco.
Unfortunately, even aged kids whine before their time. ;>
“Do you need more information? Duh....”
Yes people like you pretend to be above it all when you are really just covering up for your latent homosexuality.
well good then, its too bad those amish get blamed for so much when its really people like you
Huh? I was trying to make a joke....
The joke was supposed to be about collage-aged kids vs, college-aged kids. I was reminded of Gallo wine and visiting Kentucky tobacco and ham curing barns, where tobacco and ham are hung to dry and cure.
Guess the joke didn’t work.
I guess I owe you an apology as I did not get the joke.
I’m just tired of the blatant racism on FR. Every time there’s a crime someone idiot pipes in about the “amish”.
Well, in reconstructing my reasoning, I think I get an ‘T’ for being obtuse on that one. (True).
I knew I spelled college wrong but I was too distracted and too rushed...as usual! Thanks for the comeuppance!
