The Obama administration, after keeping gun control on the back burner for over two years, is prompting concern among gun rights groups that it's slowly starting to squeeze the trigger on tighter regulation.
In the wake of the January shooting of Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and 18 others, President Obama remained mostly quiet on the firearms front as lawmakers clamored for new restrictions. But the president has since made a public call for tougher background checks. The Justice Department launched a series of meetings with officials and advocates to examine gun control policy. And while gun-control bills in Congress have languished, the administration has started to chip around the edges with its own proposals.
"They're doing a pretty good job ... as Obama has said, 'under the radar.' There's a lot going on under that radar," Gun Owners of America Director Larry Pratt said, referring to a remark Obama reportedly made in a private meeting with gun control advocates. "They've shown us how much they are prepared to do through regulation."

Today I made another contribution to gun control. Before it could be purchased at the gun show by some shady character and “assisted” on its journey to Mexico, I saved DPMS Panther™ 7.62NATO Sportical. Tuesday I plan on seeing how well it can adjust to staying in America; Range time. This is my type of Gun Control.
I remember when Obama forbid a dress military unit, I believe it was the Navy, from wearing their swords or carrying rifles. It struck me at the time that he was out to weaken and destroy our armed forces.
Now he wants to take firearms away from the people, and take from us our right to bear arms. There is only one reason why a government leader would want to do this....as far as I am concerned, it is time to impeach him. He has no regard for the Constitution Of The United States. He is a traitor, and an enemy of this, the greatest of all nations.
Bozo’s people (the would-be world rulers who run the show) view current politics as an all-out, take-no-prisoners war, not a contest of ethical legalities. We know what stands in their way of a one-world government. Therefore, we know what they are planning to attack: (1) private guns and (2) the economy and (3) the internet and (4) Borders - Language - Culture, by flooding America with foreigners to break down its national integrity.
We know this from their goals (world domination) and their previous behavior, and from showing us what they fear by isolating and ridiculing it. Did I leave out (5) Sarah Palin?
How many more years can the antis continue repeating this outright lie? Background checks ARE required at gun shows and have been for decades. Licensed gun dealers are already required to obey all federal and state laws,including background checks, on firearms sales or exchanges of any kind at gun shows just as they are at their places of business. That has been federal law since Lyndon Johnson's 1968 GCA was enacted. If gun show operators allow private gun owners to sell guns in or on their premises, and most promoters don't, the sellers must obey the same federal, state, and local firearms laws they would if they sold a gun from their own home.
Requiring federal background checks for private party sales at gun shows is just another way to put more expense and difficulty on firearms acquisition and ownership, thereby reducing the number of guns in the hands of ordinary citizens. The more expensive gun ownership and use becomes the less guns will be in the hands of law abiding American citizens, which of course is the motive behind all unconstitutional gun laws. The tired old lies about gun show background checks are just the tip of the anti-gun agenda that Obama and his cohorts intend to push after the 2012 election when his true authoritarian-despot colors can be revealed without concern about his reelection.
If that POS had had to do 6 weeks of boot camp at Camp LeJuene when he was 18 I’m guessing they would have beaten all that Communist crapola out of his head and he would be a normal person.
My take on Obama preventing Naval Academy Grads from wearing their ceremonial swords was that he was concerned a patriotic American would have attacked him.
Traitors and dictators fear their own military because many see through the lies.
That’s how it felt to me too.
“Under the radar” means that he plans on using junk science and regulations to try to disarm us.
