Oops, I think this was what I was trying to reply to and messed up. I’m new at this. I can’t believe people that proclaim to love God can be so hateful toward our military.

Well if I lived closer I would get a bunch of my biker friends to rock their world. From doing PGR rides I’ve learned they want you to hit them so they can sue you. They are vile people & Fred is a real POS. Abused his kids & basically brainwashed them. I’ve read plenty on the WBC. A few kids ran away & have spoken out. The WBC is a sick & evil cult.

I seem to remember reports of one town making sure their vehicles were blocked in at their hotel, so they couldn’t get to where they were going to protest. Law enforcement was MUCH too busy to make the vehicles move that were blocking the Westboro gang, until after the funeral was over that they’d come to protest. :-)

I have it on ‘good faith’ that when they tried to protest a soldier’s funeral here.....they didn’t make it past the county line. I’ll leave it at that. ;-)

Nobody has to touch them.

All they have to do is blare rap music (and I use the term loosely) during their *church* services.

Or maybe at whereever they are staying when they go out of town.

Speaking of disabling their vehicles, wouldn't it be a shame if all the valve stems on all the tires on all their vehicles failed all at once?

Coincidentally, of course. No slit tires or any other illegal activity. Just a major inconvenience.

I agree. We've used truckers & their rigs to block them. Which works really well. What I get irked about is that they call ahead & tell the police they are coming & demand protection. I don't feel they have that right or that we should pay for it. Many times I have been told the WBC was coming & they did a no show. I really thought if they went to the coal miner's funerals they would disappear. I also wonder why child services is not on them. Bringing children into areas where there could be violence seems to me to be bad parenting. Not to mention stupid. More like child endangerment.

Welcome to Free Republic MB. Are you really in Miss. or just wishing? I once lived in Jackson, Miss. My youngest son was born there. Loved the state and loved living there.

God never put a limit to human stupidity, that never meant that we had to try and reach it so badly. In this particular case,I really hope these “protesters” reconsider their lifestyles.

I was thinking of this.

Galatians 5

Walking in the Spirit

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[c] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders,[d] drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

One day calamity is going to befall the WBC.

When it does, I won’t clap. I’ll just turn away, and realize that God works in mysterious and wondrous ways.

God bless Joplin and those who were adversely affected by the May 22nd, tornado. My heart goes out to them, each and every one.

I grew up in Joplin and the surrounding area. I have many fond memories from that town and region. For that reason, I will always jump to the defense of the people of Joplin. A bit of my heart still resides there.

Beyond the connection to Joplin, my heart always goes out to people who are affected by the forces of nature or any calamity that may befall them. Compassion separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom. Evidently there are exceptions though, because the members of the WBC don’t share other human’s gene for compassion.

God, when judgment day comes for the members of the WBC, please know that I fully support what you will be doing on that day.

And in advance, I wish to thank you.

Amen.

I spent a small part of my life living in the Joplin area. My daughter was born there 25 years ago this month. My connections there may not be as strong as yours, having grown up there as you did, but I love it too.

Prayers continue for this stricken community.

Thank you for posting. How one could read those versus, in particular verses 22-25 and justify the actions of WBC is beyond belief.

But that is what the apostacy does to people. We are in the midst of the great falling away of some in the church and the actions and rhetoric of the WBC is proof of that. Are those at the WBC Christian and going to heaven? I don’t know. By looking at their works and basic beliefs, I doubt it. But if they do get to heaven, I offer the following. In the four gospels, Christ’s wrath was not directed towards individual sinners or even the roman soldiers. Christ’s wrath was directed toward the scribes and pharasies. These “men of god” were in it for the wrong reasons. They were blind leading the blind and did not care about that. They compromised the temple worship to fit their comfort and put themselves before God and God’s people. Christ went right have them with righteous wrath and condemnation.

If those at WBC ever do get to heaven, more will be taken away from them than given. But then, that is if they get to heaven.

The Westboros need to be called a cult.

Look how they treated one of their own children who questioned the church/cult. Totally heartless and cold.

Thanks EternalVigilance. One of the things I have found interesting during my life, is when the issue of Joplin comes up, I have been surprised how many people have a story to tell when the subject of Joplin comes up.

It seems like a very large percentage of our nation has either spent time in Joplin, or has family that has spent time in Joplin.

Being located just off the old Route 66, Joplin was a watering hole of sorts for many U. S. Citizens who traveled by car.

Take care.
